I’ve set up (bbpress) login widget on the sidebar. All ok on Chrome but on Firefox it’s not appearing though. But I could see the title line e.g. Login there but not the box where I can enter username and password. Strange. However, if I enter the url… /login then I could login via the page (not sidebar). What did I do wrong…. but on Chrome all is good.
bbpress login widget
Published on April 4th, 2014 by batmanfanUser Permission
Published on April 4th, 2014 by batmanfanHow to set up permission access? i.e. I am admin but want to set up another ‘admin’ or ‘moderator’ person to manage the forum (just the forum), therefore he/she will manage everything on the forum side, including create/modify/delete forum or topic, but he/she can’t access or edit the wordpress backend which include install/delete pages/post or any plugin.
How to set this up or give permission? thanks.
login but need to refresh page every time
Published on April 3rd, 2014 by batmanfanI seem to have problem with my newly created forum site on bbpress plugin show not login. Though I’ve logged in but when click on any topic it displays this message.
“You must be logged in to reply to this topic”
But after I click refresh the page F5 then I can see that I’m logged in and now can submit new topic or reply. But when click on another topic, same thing happens again saying I must login to reply. So refresh again then OK again. Why?

Auto Post to bbPress Plugin?
Published on April 3rd, 2014 by KWMHoldingsLLCMy bbPress site will be a network of people, many that already have their own wordpress sites.
I want an option or plugin so that when a user creates a blog post on his own site- it will auto post to BB Press as well. Just like there are plugins to post from WordPress to Facebook.
Does this exist?
Another idea would be allowing the user to add an RSS feed to his profile and get the latest content from that rss feed.

Users can still edit posts even after edit time has lapsed or run out
Published on April 3rd, 2014 by AsynapticOne of the features of bbPress is the ability to allow users to go back to edit forum posts that they’ve made. The time setting can be adjusted but after the edit time runs out, the user should not be able to edit their post.
But I’ve discovered that users can get around this by doing the following:
1) when the edit link is still active, click on it and open the new ‘edit’ window in the bbPress forum. Then either stay here or after the edit window has opened, go forward (back where you started from)
2) when the time runs out, simply go back one page in your browser to the edit page that was previously opened
3) from there edit (write, erase, format, etc.) and then click on the submit button
This allows forum posts to be edited even after the time has run out. In fact, a user can go and make repeated edits as long as they can navigate back to the editable window instance in their browser history.
I’m going to see if I can edit this post right here by doing this. Let’s see… waiting for time to run out…
EDIT1:
ok the timer has run out and the edit link is no longer there… seems to be set at 5 minutes but I didn’t really time it that accurately, now to see if I can edit this! If you’re reading this, then I was able to edit my post after the timer ran out and the link disappeared.
EDIT2: yup, it worked. Now to see if it will work again. If you can read this second edit, then I was able to go back in my browser and edit my post again…
EDIT3: well, you get the idea. The user can edit indefinitely as long as they keep the ability to go back in their browser and their browser history includes the edit page. Go ahead and replicate this to see for yourself.

Same design a bbpress support forum
Published on April 3rd, 2014 by nirgaloHey, I want to set up the same kind of design bbpress support forum has for my site’s forum:
– main page with latest topics (and page navigation), and forums as widgets on the left pane
– when opening a forum : page with forum topics and forum info as widget on the left pane
– topic page: topic as page and Topic info as widget
How can I do that? Shortcodes do not seem to be enough. Like
- Oh, bother! No topics were found here.
New Forum Form at Forum Root?
Published on April 3rd, 2014 by myrkoI chose to show the topics by freshness at the forum root.
How can I show the new-topipc form or at least a link to create a new topic there? (I don’t use any sidebars)
Secondly, is there a php-code to determine if we’re looking at the forum root (forum homepage)? Thanks.
