Reply to topics on WordPress backend

Published on July 21st, 2014 by Yolle

Hi!
On my site I have to reply to hundreds of comments daily. To make everything more organized, I decided to switch to forum instead of wordpress comments.
I like the organized layout of the forum but I really don’t like to answer to topics on forum, because I have to click so many times for every topic… With my previous arrangement, where people posted comments, I could just open the comments section on WordPress backend and would reply one after another with just clicking the Reply button, and all the comments were on the same (backend) page no matter where they ere originally posted.
Now, on the other hand, I have to click the forum, the subforum, the topic, and scroll down to the end, to be able to reply.
Is there any way to combine “the best of both worlds?” So – to be able to reply to all the topics (from all the forums and subforums) from one single page?
Thanks!

wrong display when logged in as non-admin

Published on July 21st, 2014 by Yolle

I just noticed, that the forum page is incorrectly displayed when I am not logged in onto my site as an admin, but just when I am logged in as a (payed) subscriber.
If logged in as admin, the diplay of my page is always the same: header logo at the top, sidebar to the right, content to the left, and footer at the bottom.
But, if logged in as a payed subscriber, the main forum (but not its child subforums!) opens incorrectly, that is: first forum content, then below header logo, then sidebar and then footer.
I don’t know where to look for the bug, because I don’t really know which files make up the page that is displayed at the end.
To give you an idea what I am talking about – these are zoomed out screenshots of the correct and incorrect layouts.

Any idea where to start correcting this problem?
Thanks!

Email notifications are not sent

Published on July 21st, 2014 by Chakelan

Hi.

I have encountered a problem in my forums where users don’t get email notifications even if they check “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”. I also use Paid Membership Pro and I think that’s the problem since the email notifications worked previously.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much.

Forum Search not working

Published on July 20th, 2014 by Styled Themes

It appears the forum search is not working on my demo theme site:

1. search the blog, it works
2. search the forum, it shows the same single post from a blog
3. search does not search the forums

Try it out here: FORUM
Then the blog search: BLOG

Any ideas why the dedicated search in the bbPress plugin is not working?

What could make bbPress better? I have ideas…

Published on July 20th, 2014 by SteelersDen

I love the idea of bbPress and I am currently using it on my website but there are a few things that make this plugin poor.

1. No login/register box for logged out users. Yes, I know we have widgets that can be used but what about above the actual forums on the page?

2. User signatures. This is such a simple addition that I have no idea as to why it is not included with bbPress. It’s apart of the core message board features all around.

3. My main beef with bbPress is the way categories and forums are shown. Forums are placed under categories like sub-forums which looks un-forum like to me.

Just a few things that come to mind.

Accept shortcodes in forum

Published on July 20th, 2014 by SAPinfoASAP

Hi,

Is it possible to allow shortcodes in the forum? These shortcodes are not part of bbpress, but other wordpress plugins I have installed.

For example one short code allows me to add an optin form, I would like to add this to the end of my forum post.

Thanks in advance,
