bbpress is broken?

  • Adam

    Not understanding this….. (bbpress 2.0 rc4)

    1) I installed the plugin.

    2) I don’t have twenty ten installed and I got the error “bbPress (Twenty Ten) The parent theme is missing. Please install the “twentyten” parent theme.” This should be updated to use the latest version of WordPress theme 2011

    3) Installed twenty 10

    4) returned to themes.

5)bbpress theme is not showing its preview .png file most themes show.

    6) Activating bbpress theme gives me:

Your active theme does not include bbPress template files. Your forums are using the default styling included with bbPress.

The active theme is broken. Reverting to the default theme.

-> NOTHING was touched or changed. All I did was install bbpress plugin and install the twenty ten theme.

So I thought, what the hell lets create a forum and go to it:

    1) forums

    2) new forums

    3) new: Test

    4) Publish

    5) view ->

This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?

It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching, or one of the links below, can help.

What am I doing wrong? Why is this not working at all?

I may have found out what the issue is, if you set up forums for buddypress what happens is it asks you to do a new installation of bbpress and because of that i dont think this plugin will work….

I am having exactly the same problem! I’m amazed at the lack of clarity around getting BBPress to work with WordPress.

    Oh no wait… I’m not.

Hope someone who knows can post something useful in here.

Are you installing/developing locally (localhost)? This is a known issue:

Hope you find the white rabbit.

@ghost – Insulting the dev team doesn’t get you help any quicker.

@adam – Did you get this sorted? Seems you did from other topics you’ve posted.

I too have run into this problem using the Custom Community theme on wordpress. In my situation, I’m not doing a localhost install; it’s instead running off a Greengeeks server. Are there any updates with regard to this? If not, are there any quick fixes? The way my forums stand right now, the title is the same color as the background. Could you suggest a way for me to not-so-elegantly change my forum colors around just so I can just get it functional? Thanks in advance!
