Forum converter does SEEM to get stuck in one place, but in my experience, that place is the end of the conversion – it just forgets to tell you that the conversion is done. Have you checked the forums post-conversion and found that the conversion wasn’t finished?

    @DiannaM668

When I installed Forum converter, a couple of other things automatically got installed:

    ForumConverter-Auth

    ForumConverter-Password

    ForumConverter-Signatures

See if they can help you.

    That worked! Thanks!

    DiannaM668, sorry to hear that.

Not sure how to fix apart from manually bulk editing/moving…

Makes sense. I wish they would mention it prominently on this site, especially on the download page.

I respectfully disagree on the point that it would be harder to build a bbPress community at WP.

If anything, a more vibrant discussion at https://wordpress.org/tags/bbpress will encourage more WordPress users to use bbPress.

I don’t need to see thousands of unrelated posts to what I am actually interested in.

That’s baffling. I would have imagined that every bbPress user is interested in WordPress, considering bbPress is a plugin for WordPress.

    I understand.

However, if every plugin thought this way and took away its support to an outside site, the whole WP community loses.

I think there is a case to be made for merging the 2 forums.

    Yup, it worked.

The problem is the plugin is not very tolerant (version numbers had to be added to make it work) and not very communicative (doesn’t show a message when import is completed). But it worked.

    2 files need to edited.

All that Firebug has to say is:

    syntax error
    );
    options-general.php?page=fc-options&settings-updated=true (line 304, col 2)

Can’t get it to work at all. Consistently get “conversion failed” error. No idea why

    Tried just now.

Didn’t make any difference to the forum page, but the topic page got worse…

When I try to go directly to topic page with the URL, I only get a white page with the following error:

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in ../wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 201

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in ../wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 202

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at ../wp-includes/class-wp.php:201) in ../wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 866

@BrianCAU: Are you sure it is set up as a public forum visible to all?

    I tried what you suggested.

At my forums root http://klymene.net/forums/ you will see 2 forums listed – English and Hindi. You will also see that there is an indication of some content under English.

If you click on English http://klymene.net/forums/forum/english no topics are listed.

On top of page, you will see error message

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in .../wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 201
Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in .../wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 202

You can go directly to http://klymene.net/forums/topic/test and see the topic which should be under the English forum. Topic actions like Reply are absent though.

On top of page, you will see error

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in .../wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 201
Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in .../wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 202

P.S. In Settings > Permalinks, the setting is

    /%postname%.html

Anointed, I’m facing a bit of a problem.

I have just installed bbPress plugin into my WordPress (with Weaver II theme – based on TwentyEleven theme).

When I go to the forums root, the layout seems acceptable.

However, when I click on a forum, I am taken to a page where I do not see any topics listed under the forum, even though I have created a topic under this forum, and this is acknowledged in the forum list (root).

If I go directly to the topic URL by typing it in address bar, I do get to the topic page, which is visible just fine (except that no reply, flag, quote etc buttons are available).

    Please help!

    Thanks, anointed! That helps.

Can someone please chime in on the caching aspect?

    I don’t know the answer.

But the way to go is certainly to install bbPress separately and integrate with WP with https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-integration/ ?
