Yeah, that’s really nice, thank you!
In reply to: No instructions = waste of timeI used SMF years ago, it was poorly documented, and hell to use.
I’m not bashing SMF, the point is bbPress is brand new. The devs are creating a new product from scratch. You get a product, or documentation. It all takes time. Resources are finite.
It takes time to grow everything out. If more people don’t volunteer their time, it is what it is. Do you have any idea how many people have worked on something like SMF? Or how long it’s been around?
I’m not knocking anyone here, it’s just good to have realistic expectations.
In reply to: No instructions = waste of timeI didn’t think anything was necessary to use it. During installation, step 3, I either set up, or it defaulted the forums base slug as forums.
A slug is part of a URL, so Ithen visited domain.com/forums and it worked.
So I added a link to my menu for that URL, and I was done.
Basically, whatever you set the forums slug to, yu add to the end of your URL, and there’s your forums
OK, all is well. Otto has a new version of the plugin not yet released. It’s available as a branch on svn. Whatever conflict existed has been resolved in the branch, so it’ll be good when that’s released
Bah, had it working after upgrading to 3.2, now it’s broken again.
Looks like it’s on the SFC end of things tho… I think
How’s that for quick!! Good stuff, and thanks again for the work on the plugin!

Apologies on the delay. I was out of town until today. I really have no idea what I’m doing in the trac system, I hope what I’ve submitted is acceptable
Hmmm, that’s curious. I’ve re-tested. No plugins, twenty ten theme, regenerated permalinks, and I can’t use the same slug. I get a page not found error when trying to view standard tag…
waitaminute…
Ah, there’s the conflict. Something I should have tested earlier.
If the 2 slugs are the same, and the
“Incude the Forum Base slug in your single forum item links”
Option is unchecked, that’s when I get the clash…..
Discovered the problem in my situation. It was a permalink clash. The default settings for the forums sets the tags slug as tags. My permalinks for WP have the default tag base of tags. So the default forum and standard WP tags were conflicting. When I renamed my forum tag slug to topic-tags everything works again
I have the same issue, I was just coming to report, but found this in a search. you can check it out on voodoopress.com if you like
