I was working on optimizing the site using a tutorial from http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/the-ultimate-quickstart-guide-to-speeding-up-your-wordpress-site–wp-23846
When I got to the part on using the plugin “WP-DBmanager”, I backed up the database. I then repaired it. When I did the optimize part, that’s when I got the 500 error. I called the hosting company and not sure what they did. Eventually, they did a database restore from a weekly file. The error logs from that restore showed lots of errors. When I finally got the site back, the final result was the topics were there with no forums.
My fix was to have all forums without a parent. I can still display my forums using a customized menu as a parent-child relationship. Now all my forums and topics are displayed as before.
My fix was to remove all sub-forums. I moved all sub-forums to the top without a parent. I can still display the forums the way I want with the customized menu. This fixed my problem.
My site uses bbPress 2.5.4 for forums and topics. New topics can select a forum to be placed in. But when selecting a forum to read the error is Page Not Found.
Example, http://raptureintheairnow.com/?forum=devotions should show the forum of Devotions. But from the main page http://raptureintheairnow.com/ all the topics can be viewed.
All other plugins and themes are current.
Permalinks are set to default.
I tried that and still get the same error. I tried changing themes from 2011 to 2013 and the site works. So I am thinking there is some problem with the 2011 theme.
