    My experience with bbpress is unfortunately very bad: i am a webmarketing manager (not a developer) and i trusted the “Download, install, and you’re on your way!” they claim on the homepage, but since then i had nothing but frustrations.

    Obviously i chosed bbpress because of the wordpress integration, but it took me months to make it work, and now ii have it, but full of bugs (plugins not working, empty synced comments etc etc etc).

    Unfortunately many people work in my company, and already have many users in my forum, so i just cannot change platform i’ll have to survive with bbpress.

    If you have a simple site, lots of patience, know php and are very religious, go on with bb.

    Hi,

    since i have the forum in a different frame of my page, i’d have to add the attribute “target_top” to every link.

    The code below is only for target_blank, or would it be possible to replace every “blank” with “top” and have it working?

    And how do you make the code into a plugin? you copy and paste into a text file, save it as *.php and upload the file in the bbpress plugins folder?

    Thank you very much, every help is very appreciated!

    Hi Chandersbs,

    i am sorry i didnt get what i should do: should i edit only this part

    { //exclude forums here ?>

    and fill it with the id of the forum i want to exclude?

    Or should i change the ids in the following line? I only have 1 forum to exclude, and its “position” is 4, does that mean that its id is 4 as well?

    <?php if( $topic->forum_id != 29 && $topic->forum_id != 30 && $topic->forum_id != 18 && $topic->forum_id != 15 && $topic->forum_id != 4 )

    Thanks!

    Hi Chris,

    in my php myadmin i have the table “bb_users”, and many tabs (will try to translate from my language):

    SHOW; STRUCTURE; SQL; SEARCH; INSERT; EXPORT; IMPORT; OPERATIONS; EMPTY; DELETE;

    if i click the first tab “SHOW” i see two users (I have 12 in my bb-admin/users.php) , and they both have a user nicename. The second user i see under the SHOW tab doesnt appear in my bb-admin/users.php.

    If i see a “user nicename” under the SHOW tab do i have to add one anyway? Or should i click the “INSERT” tab and do something there?

    I use Version 1.0-alpha-6, itegrated with WP 2.7.

    Thank you very much,

    the Process

    Hello,

    how do you add a “user_nicename” to a user? i am having the same issue, and am a noob.

    I have php myadmin, and checked the bb_users table: got lost after that.

    Thanks for any advice,

    Hi, i read

    “In the “WordPress Integration” section of the “Settings” area in your bbPress admin you will find a “User Role Map” where you can set which roles will be applied to users who register on your forums. Users who register on your WordPress blog will have the appropriate role applied to their account when they first login to bbPress.”

    but since i dont see the “Settings” area in my bbPress admin, how can i set it the proper way?

    thank you very much,

    Thanks,
