In reply to: Gravatars and 0.9 needs plugin?
Any tips yet on patching non-Kakumei themes to support 0.9’s support for gravatars?
In reply to: Gravatars and 0.9 needs plugin?Good question GoeffF, looks like it used to be here:
http://bbshowcase.org/forums/view/available-themes
But clicking on it just refreshes the page. Clicking on the author’s link takes you to a rather nebulous blog which for all I know has the code for the theme (if it’s even still the blog of the original guy) but good luck finding it.
Was there a legal issue with posting that theme? Did bbPress not approve?
In reply to: Gravatars and 0.9 needs plugin?Okay, I see what the trouble is — I’m using bbOrg, the bbPress theme (the one that looks like this site).
Any tutorials on how to easily adapt a theme to work?
In reply to: “I could not find the file bb-config-sample.php”I’m not sure why, but the file wasn’t there. Perhaps I inadvertently deleted it? I downloaded the install again and bingo, there it was. Uploaded it and the install went off without a hitch.
Conclusion? Bad user on device error.
Matt
In reply to: Template: bbPress Forum ThemeFor anyone that’s interested, if you set
margin-top: 35px;
…it lines up flush with the username line, just as it looks if you view you profile here on the official bbPress board.
In reply to: Template: bbPress Forum ThemeFab Trent, that’s plenty close for now.
In reply to: Can’t add additional tags to postDid you mean me schmitt? Not proposing anything, just trying to figure out why #5 doesn’t work.
The syntax ‘get_user_name()’ doesn’t exist in my profile.php file under 8.3?
In reply to: Emoticons For bbPress?Has anyone been able to get this working with the ‘bbpress-forum’ template (the one that mimics this forum) and bbPress 8.3? I had this working fine in my older install using the default template, but 8.3 seems to break things, and ‘bbpress-forum’ doesn’t have the post-form.php and edit-form.php files.
In reply to: Can’t add additional tags to post5. In profile.php, replace the call to get_user_name() with get_display_name()
???
Can’t find this — running 8.3 — applied all the other steps, but display names are only showing for some (well, at this point, only for me).
In reply to: Template: bbPress Forum ThemeHey Trent,
Did anyone come up with a resolution for the original poster’s:
“When i click on “View your profile” the menu choices goes off way out to the right…”
Cheers,
Matt
In reply to: Spoiler plugin?The link to the plugin – I think it’s called ‘Enhanced SS’ – is here:
If you scroll down just a bit, you’ll see the English version/description.
In reply to: Spoiler plugin?Okay, pretty simple – see here:
http://mikecarey.net/?p=187#comments
Scroll down a dozen comments from the top to the one dated March 18th, 2007 12:36 pm and see the ‘Show’ drop-downs. That’s a spoiler plugin that essentially takes any text with <spoiler> tags around it and inserts the drop-down function.
I’m either looking for something like that, or alternately jury-rigging a custom tag (if that’s even possible) to let my users post, say, black text on a black background (in a blockquote box) that you have to highlight to see.
Make a little more sense?
Matt
You’re an amazing guy, Mr. Trent. We’ll give you all the time in the world, of course, and simply be grateful if/when you’re able to cobble something together!
In reply to: Empty tag <br> issue?Okay, fixed it by putting:
margin-bottom: 1em;
…in the CSS.
In reply to: Empty tag <br> issue?That works, except for one issue – blockquotes. I was trying to use it (inappropriately, it seems) to force a space after a blockquote. Here’s what’s happening:
Test post
Text bumped right up against blockquote.
Okay, shoot – blockquote isn’t defined here, so I can’t show you what’s happened. Try here:
http://mikecarey.net/forum/topic.php?id=10&page&replies=1#post-43
…bottom third of that first post, right after the blockquote.
No matter how many spaces I place after the blockquote end tag, or instances of the br tag, it stays flush.
In reply to: show search form or link to search.php on home pageDuh, found it – search-form.php!
In reply to: show search form or link to search.php on home pageHow do you make the search box itself smaller?
Exactly Null, exactly right. Fingers crossed for a plugin/update!
I’m getting close! I just need that last little bit – totally an aesthetics thing too. Functionally I’m thrilled. WP and bbPress = da bomb.
In reply to: Login / Logout WP + bbPress Cookies?Doh, figured it out. I had http://www.mikecarey.net in the home/siteurl options but just mikecarey.net in the config.php. I just switched lopped the ‘www’ off in the blog options and bingo, working fine!
In reply to: Login / Logout WP + bbPress Cookies?Hmm…well, my forums are like this:
And the config file is set like this:
$bb->wp_home = ‘http://mikecarey.net’;
$bb->wp_siteurl = ‘http://mikecarey.net’;
