In reply to: bbpress.org got new style?
I think they have done a great job with the forum, the small tag/label sitting next to the forum titles could do with being made a bit less obvious, but i’m not sure I would label it as an eyesore or super big green labels.
I like it.
In reply to: My new social forum | please reviewThe forums looks nice a clean, is the registration page a work in progress? I just checked it in firefox and the labels and things look a little funky.
In reply to: Remove About Author from the ForumsI guess it’s only visible when you are logged in, can’t see it myself.
In reply to: Can't create topics on frontend sideNo problem, glad you got your forum sorted!
In reply to: Can't create topics on frontend sideWhat did you do? It might help someone in the future.
In reply to: Remove bbPress forum profile URL linkThe above doesn’t work, but that’s because I can’t give you the exact CSS because I can’t see your html, but i’m positive you can hide it with CSS.
In reply to: Can't create topics on frontend sideIf you have done the following:
– disable ALL plugins one by one (not just ones you think could be causing it)
– activated a default theme
– used the repair tools
– re-saved permalinksAnd it’s still broken, then the only next thing you can do is create a local installation of bbPress and test the reverse way, test it’s working, add your theme, test it’s working, add one plugin and keep going till it breaks.
Good luck with your site.
In reply to: Remove About Author from the ForumsYou can use CSS, without a link it’s difficult to tell you what exact css you need.
In reply to: Can't create topics on frontend sideHave you tried using a default theme instead, see if it solves it?
In reply to: Button Text IssueLearn/Use CSS.
Good luck with your site!
In reply to: bbpress Forum link goes to 404Have you re-saved the permalinks?
I have written an article on how to troubleshoot bbPress it fixes a lot of issues if you follow the steps, especially 404 errors.
http://www.epicwebs.co.uk/bbpress-tutorials/how-to-troubleshoot-bbpress/.
Good luck with your site.
In reply to: Performance Impact and Removeability of bbPress?I have recently removed bbPress from one of my websites without any issue (the forum was never used).
Naturally if you add more functionality to your website, especially a forum that will have more writing to the database from your users it’s going to add a hit to performance, but that’s always going to happen. I’m going to guess that your server won’t be able to compete with FB and G+ but it could run smoothly if you have good hosting.
In reply to: Remove bbPress forum profile URL linkYou can either remove the link directly inside your theme files or you can use more CSS to hide the link. Without looking at your site it’s a little difficult to give you exact CSS to use, but it would be along the lines of:
.reply .bbp-reply-author a.bbp-author-name { display:none; }
In reply to: No Forums link in DashboardIn the past a couple of things have fixed this for various users.
– Reset your permalinks by visiting Settings > Permalinks and re-save them.
– Go to Tools > Forums and recalculate the permissions bit… sorry I forget the name.
– A visitor on my site said he had to make sure his user has admin access.Good luck with your site.
In reply to: Pre-Populated Text In Certain ForumsThere will be some coding involved i’m afraid, but it should be possible.
You will need to change the text editor which is going to be fairly involved.
Good luck!
In reply to: Requirement QuestionsIt depends what you mean by integrating dropbox?
If he has a public download link then he can just save the link in a topic post pretty easily. In reply to: Is this layout possible?Yes this is possible, bbPress posts are the same as WordPress posts so you would be able to send an ID to an ajax function and then retrieve a topic by ID with replies and display it in the “Load topic here” area.
Good luck with your build! 🙂
In reply to: Font size in the topic/reply editor fieldDo you have a site we can look at?
In reply to: Guide for making bbpress not so unusably slow ?gtmetrix could help. Run your site through there and see what score you get. anything 85+ is probably useable.
In reply to: No "New Topic Button" URGENT problemHere is the shortcode for the new topic form.
[bbp-topic-form]
Or you can pass it the forum id using this
[bbp-topic-form forum_id=$forum_id]
In reply to: No "New Topic Button" URGENT problemA private message or a new topic? Your title says no new topic button?
In reply to: A Guide to bbPressI have a couple of bbpress plugin projects to write, but I just need to get round to doing it.
In reply to: A Guide to bbPressIt takes a while doesn’t it, but with all the detailed information around hopefully more and more users will see the beauty of bbPress. You can get stuck into it if you know WordPress where as other forum software is not quite as simple.
In reply to: No toolbar availableI would check for javascript errors elsewhere on your site.
Under page cache is an option called “Never cache the following pages:” I just added in /forum*
Good luck!
