    I would also like to see a better solution to this problem. I can confirm that it is only a BBP issue, not related to any other plugin. It is simply that the email “to” address is hard coded to use noreply@domain name in bbp.

    That initially sounds reasonable, but as Mathias70 who started this thread pointed out, not everyone has or even wants a ‘noreply’ email on their domain. I’ve just added bbp to our large organisation’s WP site and now have the same issue.

    Please can the “To” email address for notifications be a configurable variable rather than hard coded as soon as possible.

    Thanks. Nice to at least get a response, so your thoughts are appreciated.

    However, the ticket you refer to is closed. The file in latest bbPress download matches the final version (smf3.php) available there, so I’m sure it’s reasonable to assume the code is the latest available.

    But while waiting for some help I did some further digging in my smf database. I found one user with an invalidly formatted user_id. After removing that the import worked.

    Regarding “Remap existing users to default forum roles”, the import instructions recommend running ALL repair functions after importing, which I did at every import attempt.

    Is there anyone moderating these pages?

    And please…. can anyone help with this SMF import problem…?????

    Moderator, I think redkrayola’s reply is spam???

    Is there something we can do that might encourage someone to reply to us regarding this issue?

    Even a simple “sorry we can’t help you” would at least let us know where we stand.

    I have the same issue. Can anyone help point me in the right direction to avoid it happening if I re-import?

    Presumably there is something ‘odd’ about the field mapping, but where to look?

    Thanks Stephen, a useful link. I have now installed https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-auto-subscribe-for-new-topics-and-replies/ which does what I need.

    But still my personal preference is for a single configurable tool (bbPress in this case) rather than a proliferation of different plugins.

    In particular I am always uncomfortable using plugins that have no reviews. In this case I took a chance as I have seen other work by it’s author. I have now added a review for him, so at least there is no one!

    This cannot be achieved at this stage with bbPress, the only option is to ‘Opt-In’ and there is no availability to have the defaults the other way around.

    Is there any chance of this being changed at some time? Perhaps as a config option? Being subscribed by default is the most requested feature by users on my forum.

    Just installed 2.5.3, and can confirm that this bug is now fixed.

    Thanks Stephen.

    Brilliant, thanks. No-one else on my forum except me has noticed yet or at least not reported the problem, so hopefully they never will 🙂 🙂

    Thanks Stephen. That’s excellent news.

    @Stephen

    You will only get ‘New Topic’ emails, if you want replies you also have to subscribe to that specific topic.

    Aha, thanks. That was the bit of understanding I had missed. 🙂 Quite logical when you think about it though.

    @freewpress

    Have a complete list of forums and topics subscribed??

    Yes I do. I had read your earlier question but realised you were, I think, discussing issues related to using child theme. I don’t use child themes, and for me the new feature works as described. Image attached to show:

    I simply added this to my bbpress.css file (in my theme folder)

    #subscription-toggle {float:right;}
