I don’t know of any PM plugins in bbPress that allows users to send attachments/photos…

Yah permalinks are much better for SEO… Google shows your page more often if the searchers’ keywords are in the URL itself.
If it doesn’t work in Kakumei, then it must be something tricky.

I installed her “topics per page” plugin, which fixed it nicely as well (and gave more functionality to boot).
@eclipsenow – There are a few one-click WordPress plugins that offer basic forum capabilities, I believe – here’s one of them:

They aren’t usually pluggable… but you can get very simple forum capabilities with theme and cookie integration with these plugins.

Moderators have “throttle=true” set in their capabilities, which I believe is what gives them the power to avoid the throttle:

You could always create a new Role that has all the same capabilities as Moderator, except for the ability to avoid throttles:

Or you could write a plugin which removes that one capability from Moderators. That’s beyond my skills though.

What version of WordPress did you install?
There’s a words.php file you can edit… you can remove the curse words and add in whatever you’d like.
You can easily do all the features you asked for in 0.9! It’s going to be a long while before 1.0 has the plugin support that 0.9 does.
I don’t know how to downgrade from 1.0 to 0.9… I can ask around. I am not technical enough to do this stuff, and I never charge for anything… but do you have any budget for a developer? That might help you in case you need some custom help from someone who really knows what they are doing!
You could deputize some users to have moderator privileges and let them help out?

TalkPress is their hosted “bbPress MU” – so it sounds like eventually, we’ll have the ability to host multiple bbPress sites from a single install.
The only way I know of to allow unusual characters in usernames is to use display names… but that wouldn’t change the URL of user’s profile.
Yah I definitely recommend using the 0.9.x branch. If you’re using a lot of plugins, it’s going to be really frustrating to be on 1.0.

Do you have to link to the categories?
You could probably change your theme not to link to a forum if it’s set to be a category…
Browse over to your users table, and find the user you want to change… then click edit to change the username in the record directly.
Make sure to backup your data first, just in case!
Do you have access to phpMyAdmin?
Yes, you can do this with certain avatar plugins.
