Hi, I use GD bbPress Attachments

GD bbPress Attachments is an easy-to-use plugin for WordPress and bbPress for implementing files upload for bbPress Forums topics and replies. You can control file sizes from the main plugin settings panel, or you can change some attachments settings for each forum individually.

Works fine for my forum

In wordpress new post or page the youtube embed works every time. In bbpress new topic or reply it works sometimes and sometimes not (mostly not)… I am actually starting to think its a browser issue rather than wp, tinymce or bbpress.

I was just hoping that the blocks everywhere plugin would help me fix the issue I have with embedding video into forum posts which I think is something to do with TinyMCE: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/youtube-links-not-embedding-in-forum-posts/

I get what you mean, though, about the general user having issues with the block editor. I am still getting used to it and ran on the legacy editor for over a year before I made the leap! 🙂

@ricsca2 Do you mean the “blocks everywhere” plugin by automaticc? I looked at that but am not comfortable with editing php files so am waiting for a more “user” friendly update for that plugin. 🙂 I like the idea of the block editor in forum posts and replies though to replace tinymce.

Adding a special link in that line of edit, trash etc isn’t really needed then and would just take up more space (especially in a mobile view)

Ahhhhh. I never noticed that option in the edit topic area in the backend of forum admin. Thankyou.

From 46 issues in converting my forum to a fully functioning mobile app I am down to this one issue. Good news yes? Sigh! 🙂

I have searched the internet in forums and help sites for bbpress, TinyMCE and Astra theme and cannot find anything similar to my issue.

I have disabled and re enabled plugins to look for conflicts. Tried Chrome, firefox and Edge browsers

Youtube refuses to embed and be visible inside a forum topic.

Any and all ideas welcome 🙂

No wait!. What I said above was a caching effect in firefox. Your custom css works fine.

That has had an interesting effect… The custom css removes the “Next Topic” link when a user is logged in but when logged out it is still there.

All topics have this link at the bottom and it is also visible when logged out of the forum.

As an Update, I have found some really old information about this issue @netweb here:https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2198

And here: Editor width addressed in CSS at patch https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1933 down to 240 resolution. In some smartphones, only the text editor shows up by default.

My Redmi 9C uses a 20:9 aspect ratio screen (resolution is 720×1600).

As an update. Youtube videos embed fine in the block editor when creating a new page or post on the site. The issue seems to be just with BBpress and the create topic/Reply editor which uses TinyMCE?

It would be great to be able to watch embedded videos without having to click out to youtube etc.

I have asked this same question myself over the last few weeks as I am busy making my BBPress forum compatible and converted to a fully funcioning mobile app.

I decided to push ahead because the support forum of wordpress itself is running on the BBpress plugin and there seems to be no signs at all of it being switched to something else (as @robin-w says)

Whilst there are hundreds of plugins that are no longer maintained, the BBpress essential plugins very much are, and support for them is absolutely excellent. ( @amauric and @codejp3 ) 🙂

I believe that the future of niche forum websites like mine are in the mobile app direction with push notifications etc to users through their smart phones. WP and BBpress is lightweight enough to work fantastic on a mobile.

The three authors I mentioned earlier are great examples of why BBpress will carry on for the foreseable future no? Thanks guys for your continued help and support!

I can confirm that the code you suggested works perfectly if it is added to my themes custom CSS area in (theme customization – Astra theme) and also works if it is added to the custom CSS area of the most excellent bbp style pack plugin.

I have installed the plugin Advanced Editor Tools but any changes I make in the layout of TinyMCE in the settings doesn’t seem to affect the layout of the editor in BBPress topic posts or replies. Its seems to only change the settings in the editor for WP posts and pages.

When I look at the list of forums I see that there is a column titled “Creator”. As I created all the forums my name is listed as the creator. Its a live link (my name) but clicking it just refreshes forums created admin page.

I guess that this is where the info for the “By Author” is being taken from that appears under the forum title on the site?

The link that appears under the site title is live but when clicked produces a failed to find what you were looking for search message and my profile picture.

Hi all, I have the astra theme as well and youtube won’t embed at all in bbpress forums. (I have the embed option set in bbpress admin)
