    If I had to rank them:

    1) WYSYWYG / rich editing (tie!)

    1) Facebook Connect (tie!)

    3) Integration with WordPress (that login cookie thing really needs to be fixed)

    The rest: interesting but the above 3=LOVE

    4) Anonymous posting

    5) Private messaging

    6) Embed support, like videos

    7) Email notification

    8) Keyboard navigation

    OMG, it would be awesome if ‘FB Connect’ was introduced into 1.1. This would mean it would only be a matter of time before ‘IntenseDebate Connect’! WOO HOO!

    @ Olympus: I bet FB connect was a second or third choice for many folks

    There should also be a way to customize how big the user’s profile pic/gravatar is on the profile page and the topic page. From what I understand one needs to mess with the bbpress core files rather than css or theme files to change this.

    I’m lost. In WordPress one can delete posts. This makes very little sense.

    Call me crazy, but the the ability to permanently delete topics and posts needs to be built into the core. Heck, this would go great with WP 2.9’s trash can concept.

    @Gautam: Thanks a million, did not notice that plugin existed until you pointed it out. Gracious! Still think an optional TinyMCE should be built in, but this plugin is great.

    Just finished reading up…ecstatic to see this chat.

    Random thoughts (from someone who has been periodically messing with this for a year and still learning the ropes):

    -Don’t like the idea of eliminating bbPress’s stand alone ability and REQUIRING it be a WP plugin (some of us just want to run stand-alone forums without having to install WordPress first.) Prefer to keep it as a separate project.

    -Love the idea of adding new OPTIONAL features to the bbPress core (bbPress 1.1) . Here are my top 6:

    (1) Optional TinyMCE addition

    (2) Ability to edit plugins and templates from within bbPress admin

    (3) Ability to add widgets to certain areas without having to mess with the template (will be handy for easily editing ‘sidebar’ stuff from the admin page rather than having to play with the template code each time

    (4) More Avatar/Gravatar options, such as easily adjusting their size on Profile pages and including instructions on how to get a Gravatar built into the ‘edit profile’ pages. People want to customize their forum character. Make it easier for them to do it right out of the box: display a click-able link to Gravatar.com!

    (5) To combat spam registrations, build optional ‘Human Test’ and ‘Terms of Service’ registration page features (which can be further modified and tweaked by plugins/user modifications). I’m sure everyone else there has noticed ‘Spam’ user signups. A built-in human test and/or TOS box to check will go a long way in eliminating them!

    (6) Better bozo management notification on the admin page (have numbers pop-up like for new comments and plugins in case a legitimate user has been marked as a bozo. I’ve had this happen a couple times because I didn’t check the bozo list.

    -Pleased to hear bbPress.org design will be revamped and include Codex

    -THRILLED to see folks from the message board helping bbPress.org and the overall project in various areas

    -In summary, EXCITED about bbPress 1.1

    RE: ‘Extend’, before Sam left he was redoing this site.

    See: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/sneak-peek-at-bbpressorg-20

    It’s a real shame he left before the new one was up…

    @citizenkeith:

    Sorry for the confusion, meant ‘Ouch’ re: the site bbShowcase going down (did not mean to direct it at you or anyone else). This is not good for bbPress’s future. It hurts us all.

    @Olaf:

    You are right on the money. It would be disastrous if a bbPress vulnerability was discovered and no patch was rolled out to combat it…

    @matt:

    1. Great to hear you will be looking into the bbPress site refresh!

    2. There was discussion a while ago re: a ‘bbPress MU’ type of plugin to allow 1 bbPress installation to manage MULTIPLE forums. Any idea how this would tie into the whole WP/WPMU merger? For planning purposes, should we expect this idea dead?

    In reply to: When bbpress 1.0.3?

    @Olaf: I’m in the same standalone boat, but really wish there was some sort of “bbPress MU” so I didn’t need different installations for different forums. There was word of a bbPress plugin that would handle this but its been a while. And with Sam leaving, ugh, not expecting it anytime soon…

    Wondering what will happen re this discussed “bbPress MU” plugin with the news that WordPress and WPMU are merging.

    I agree 100% with Olaf.

    Seems like there is all this attention from Automattic re: BuddyPress development but next to none for bbPress. Sigh…

    I too will be saddened if Sam, indeed, has moved on.

    Looking more and more like things are at a standstill:

    My money is that Sam was simply implementing the new site template.
