I was also facing trouble when creating topics and I did the same.. replaced topics/functions.php to 2.6-betaIn reply to: Topic Title Maximum Length and Inspect Element Tool
btw.. I can see a lot of speed improvements on 2.6b2 over 2.5.12! gr8 job!
posting is pretty fast now.
cheers for that.
2.6b2 got my replies out of sync with the freshness link and reply count on the forum index page. Usually topics that have a lot of replies got out of sync… when user clicks to go to the latest reply.. the ID of the reply is correct.. but the page is wrong.
Example of what’s going on:
Topic with 24.439 replies… last page is 1630 but the freshness link took me to page 1627 and forum index shows this topic has 24.403 replies.
I already saw topics with 500 replies with this problem and others with 1000 replies doing just fine… kinda weird. lol
I tried to use the repair tool but I always get the timeout problem… probably because I have more than 45M replies.
There’s any way I can run the repair tool straight from the DB or SSH? idk.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you =)In reply to: BBPress for HUGE forums? Capable?
Based on my experience.. my advice to big forums is to use opcache + apply 1925.4.diff patch and be careful with long threads and too many topics under the same group/section.
I have a website that is 1 yo but already have 27 million posts and is only online because of the 1925.4.diff that bbpress staff/helpers provided here: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1925
(BTW Thank you @netweb for looking at this ticket)
Even with the patch… I have some trouble with long threads using too much cpu… so I’m always closing threads because of that.
I also got in trouble with high cpu load when we have too many topics under the same forum… because of this problem.. from time to time I create new forums and make the old one a “museum”.
My CPU consumption usually varies from 8 to 30. 40-50 on peak days.
Without doing this “hacks” my website can’t survive… because the cpu consumption goes up to 500 until everything crashes. In reply to: HTML tags appear in the forum posts
