In reply to: How To Create A bbPress SideBar
@robin-w,
Excellent – that works.Thank you very much – your help is appreciated.
In reply to: How To Create A bbPress SideBar@robin-w,
That worked.It’s showing the page sidebar, as opposed to the blog sidebar.
I added the bbpress.php copied file in the parent theme. I am using a child-theme but haven’t tried it yet, but it would be better to get this working there.
And also next…. how do we create and show a bbPress specific sidebar?
Thank you.
In reply to: How To Create A bbPress SideBarIn reply to: How To Create A bbPress SideBar1) I use two sidebar widget areas from the theme. One for blog archives and posts, and one for pages. These function and appear OK. There is also a WooCommerce sidebar but I don’t have WooCommerce installed so I can’t comment on that.
2) When using the instructions at the link on the first topic post I made here, and also the bbPress WP tweak plugin the bbPress sidebar widget area appears, I’ve added the text area and some dummy text, saved it, but the sidebar does not appear on any of the forum pages (e.g. main forum index, topic list, topic).
It came to mind that I’m quite sure that I used the linked instructions to they the sidebar to appear and it worked OK with a previous version of the theme. There have been a few updates since, where I have copied the customisations over to the updated theme, but I had assumed that the bbPress sidebar would continue to work. It was only when I looked at the forum recently, it looked and felt odd and that is when realised the sidebar had stopped working. But I’m not sure why the plugin does not work, but again these two non-functioning issues with the sidebar may be related.
I hope that helps.
And thank you.
In reply to: How To Create A bbPress SideBar@robin-w,
The theme developers say they don’t support the theme’s use with bbPress.If you can help, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you.
In reply to: How To Create A bbPress SideBar@robin-w,
I have created a support ticket and will keep you in touch. Would a zip of the main template files on the root of the theme help? If so, I can post a link here for you to have a look at them.
@veppa,
I tried the bbPress WP tweak plugin but as per the customisation in the first post, the admin widget appeared, I added a text widget with some dummy text, but the sidebar on the user side did not.Your feedback would be appreciated.
In reply to: How To Create A bbPress SideBarIn reply to: URL is being parsed incorrectlyHello,
The issue was sort of resolved by switching off the ‘Embed media’ bbPress setting.
However, this does not explain why a different URL to that in the reply was being embedded.
It would be good for the developers to look into this unless there is something obvious I am not seeing.
In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2 parse url errorThanks Sam,
However, after many many hours trying to fix alpha relase issues, I felt that my time was better spent on developing thr Set Forever organisation and not just the site at http://www.setforver.org
I hope to install a 1.0 alpha 2 or future release fir testing and feedback in future.
Thank you all for your support anmd great work.
In reply to: Double Poststhe WITH replace code does not seem to appear corectly – I think because it had not spaces. here it is again:
<input type=hidden id=hidden1><input type=”submit” id=”postformsub” onclick=”this.disabled=true; hidden1.name=this.name; hidden1.value=this.value; this.value=’Please Wait…’; this.form.submit();” name=”Submit” value=”<?php echo attribute_escape( __(‘Post Message’) ); ?>” tabindex=”4″>
In reply to: Double PostsHi,
I’m using 1.0 alpha 2 and had the same issue and used this to disable the the button and change it’s label/value after submission.
On the edit form, replace:
<input type=”submit” id=”postformsub” name=”Submit” value=”<?php echo attribute_escape( __(‘Post Message’) ); ?>” tabindex=”4″ />
with
<input type=hidden id=hidden1><input type=”submit” id=”postformsub” onclick=”this.disabled=true;hidden1.name=this.name;hidden1.value=this.value;this.value=’Please Wait…’;this.form.submit();” name=”Submit” value=”<?php echo attribute_escape( __(‘Post Message’) ); ?>” tabindex=”4″>
This creates a hidden form field which the submit buttonvalues are passed to before it’s disabled, as when it’s disbaled it won;t work as a submit button.
I hope that helps.
I similar thing can created on on the edit form.
Bharat
In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2/WordPress 2.6.2 : usernames with spacesThanks Chris.
I’m really not too fussed whtehe or not there are spaces as they work.
The spaces probably activated my raticular activating system and impulsed me to write this topic
In reply to: Problem deleting postsForgot to say that the message does actually get deleted. I think it’s something to do with the foreach statement for there only being one message.
I’m also using alpha 2 but intgrated with WP.
In reply to: Problem deleting postsHi,
I;ve just noticed that I get this issue as well. It seems to happen when there is only one message in the topic.
So when yu are logged in as Keymaster and go the the topic and then click DELETE under the message, the ajaxy stuuf does it’s wipe up and then the message re-eappares on the page but with the “Invalid argument for foreach error” just above the message again.
See http://demo.karavadra.net/bbpress/2008-18-10-admin-delete-one-message.gif
In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2: Cannot post messages with http://Well that posted OK.
really can’t work out what’s going on here!
HELP!
In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2: Cannot post messages with http://Hello World.
Climate-change and global warming are almost constantly in the news nowadays, as the problems that they present have a noticeable effect on all of us.

In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2: Cannot post messages with http://UPDATE:
It’s not a generl URL issue but a weird one.
If you look at the following message which was troublesoem to post:
http://www.setforever.org/forums/topic/climate-change-and-global-warming-1
As a member, when I copy and paste from line 1 “Hello World” to line 8 “http://www.globalclimatecampaign.org/ (INTERNATIONAL DEMONSTRATIONS ON CLIMATE-CHANGE)” it posts OK
But, whe I copy from line 1 to line 9 “http://www.campaigncc.org/ (“CAMPAIGN AGAINST CLIMATE-CHANGE”)” I get the above PHP error.
So, I just tried line nine on its own by that Posts OK. I thought it may be the odd double quote charcaters but line 7 has these so that wasn’t the issue.
This is very weird – any suggestions!?
I’m going to try to post lines 1 to 9 in the next reply on this topic to see if the re-direct without posting happens.
In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2: Cannot post messages with http://Well it seems to work OK here.
What version of bbpress are these forums running?
In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2: Cannot post messages with http://Testing this forum with a URL and a link for you to try posting in to see if you get the php error (use username: testing and password: testing)

In reply to: bbPress turns 2 today! Happy Birthday bbPress!Well _ck_,
Your Post is in good time, it’s the birth of the Set Forever forum powered by bbpress 1.0 alpha 2 (as it’s called currently).
So bbPress installations are surging to nearly 5001 forums and todays bbPress installations may have just been 11 with the one on Set Forever.
Please take a look and be gentle as it’s my first work with bbPress.
That’s good,
I first sounded as if we should take a step backwards.
Sorry for my misinterpretation!
Radium,
Are you suggesting we go back to alpha 1?
In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2: installation final step PHP errorMy Forum name doesn’t have any apostrophes – on upper and lower case letter and spaces.
So this issue still needs to be resolved if nnly to make the installation a bit more friendlier.
In reply to: 1.0 alpha 2 parse url errorUntil this parse URl issue gets resolved “properly”, I’ve done a quick fix by replacing:
bb_new_topic_link();
with
if ( bb_is_user_logged_in() ) : bb_new_topic_link(); endif;
which simply checks of the user is logged in and then only displays the “ADD NEW” link otherwise nothing.
A better quick fix would be to have and else statement with a simple link to the login page if the users is not logged in.
In reply to: Check out my Theme IntergrationNice customisation to the theme.
I see you don’t seem to be having my issue at https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/10-alpha-2-parse-url-error
did you get this issue at at all?
