In reply to: New Theme For BBPress
Thanks for your response. It looks like a great theme!
I cannot switch my WP theme at this time and am looking for a new bbpress theme that works well independently of the WP install.
In reply to: New Theme For BBPressarpowers,
Your system requirements state that your bbpress themes can only be used with your corresponding blog themes. Is this true? Or could they work alongside another theme?
Also, have they been tested with IE5 and IE6 (I know, I know… don’t ask.)
Thanks!
In reply to: How do you change the Freshness of post date format? Thanks for this, _ck_, dragunoff and all!
Jim Groom has a wiki how-to about integrating WPMU, buddypress, and bbpress:

In reply to: Bozos in 0.9.0.4?Yes. It is not working. The bozo user’s stuff is going into spam.
In reply to: Bozos in 0.9.0.4?Okay, I did activate it and so far, so good. If anyone knows of any problems with the Bozo Users 1.0 plugin and 0.9.0.4, please let me know!
In reply to: Theme: TooNewsyThis theme is excellent, but in 0.9.0.4, posts do not display properly in IE6 (and AOL). What happens is IE6 users see a line or two of each post.
I am trying to troubleshoot this display problem for a minority of site users who MUST use IE6 due to outdated equipment or draconian workplace policies. (The theme is perfect in Firefox, but a lot of people can’t use it.)
I would really appreciate any help!
Oh… or maybe you just meant how many topics are displaying on a page. I see what you mean. I will fix that.
Actually, the huge number of topics per forum is because I did not know how to break down the forums categorically by subject when I started.
Now, I can either keep it as it is, or add some subtopics, I guess.
Most people who post don’t bother selecting a forum. So the “meta” forum (About the Forums) has almost no legit topics, and about 2000 uncategorized ones. I should have made the default: uncategorized. But it is late for that now!
Thanks again for all your help!
Update:
My host was able to help.
“Due to the amount of posts contained within the treatment forum, bbpress was reaching the maximum execution limit set by PHP which in effect caused the software to stop processing the feed.”
They put in a custom php.ini to allow a longer execution time and now the RSS of the topics works fine.
I may still need a consultant some time, so the question still stands, but this crisis is averted.
In reply to: Upgraded to 0.9.0.4, can’t loginAha… 2.7.1 and 0.9.0.4: got them integrated (light integration: logins only), using _ck_’s guide here: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/wordpress-and-bbpress-integration-101
and Ann’s plugin: http://superann.com/2009/02/26/wordpress-26-27-bbpress-09-cookie-integration-plugin/
I am not sure what data corruption would look like. I looked at the listings for many but not all of the 500+ posts in this forum_id. I did not see anything obvious. There were 18 pages of them.
Not sure if this is useful but I also did a “Check Database” in MySQL Databases and it all came up clear.
Hi _ck_,
Ugh– I am looking but I really have no clue about this or what I am looking for.
I did check the table and analyze the table but it came up all clear.
I don’t suppose I can hire you for a small job?
Yes– I have phpmyadmin. Any suggestions?
Many thanks for your help.
Thanks, _ck_. I really appreciate your input.
I deactivated all my plugins and it still happened.
I also did a full recount.
I appreciate any other suggestions. Thanks!
In reply to: Upgraded to 0.9.0.4, can’t loginIpstenu,
Thanks so much — I am not expecting integration to _work_. That would be a bonus. :-p
But should I expect problems because the two programs are sharing a database?
I had to upgrade both versions for security reasons, but did not want to take the leap to the alpha.
In reply to: Upgraded to 0.9.0.4, can’t loginWhew! Clearing cookies did it. Thanks I just upgraded to WP 2.71 also, should have mentioned that.
In reply to: Upgraded to 0.9.0.4, can’t loginMy bbpress shares a database with wordpress.
This was fine in 0.9.0.1. Is it a problem now?
I checked the database, reset my password (which in fact still works perfectly on the blog side of things).
At least one user has logged in and posted to the bbpress forum, but I can’t.
But I can’t login. I registered a new account, and the password did not work.
In reply to: Upgraded to 0.9.0.4, can’t loginAnd, that did not work either. Still can’t log in.
In reply to: Upgraded to 0.9.0.4, can’t loginI am just going to try reinstalling. I tried registering a new user and the password sent did not work.
In reply to: Upgraded to 0.9.0.4, can’t loginIn case it matters, my WP and bbpress installations shared a database.
In reply to: Delete User and All User’s PostsOh… it’s the Mass Edit plugin: https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/mass-edit/
As usual, _CK_ has got it covered!
In reply to: Delete User and All User’s PostsMy understanding is you have two options right now:
1/ Delete the user. The result is that the user’s posts all remain up but the username is changed to “Anonymous — Deleted.”
2/ Go through and individually delete either (a) every thread the person ever posted, or (b) every post the person made.
This is a huge problem. If anyone can develop a plugin that sends all a user’s posts to spam, for example, it would be an easy way to delete them.
Help!
In reply to: What is this weird control thingyLooks like it’s gone now.
kboan23,
Even if you manually fix the role of users registered in bbpress to “subscriber” the display name field is still blank. So unless I am missing something, you do need to fix this problem. Otherwise, bbpress registrants become subscribers login at wordpress and their username shows as Anonymous.
