In reply to: Taking a look at bbPress 0.9
How much the 0.9 version has actually gone through testing and how much we can be confident it being secured.
I know it may contain bugs, any code can but my curiosity lies in the testing & use it has gone through already.
If considered a fork, I think we need a few people on whom the people can count on for security updates.
What do you think?
In reply to: Facebook Connect HelpYou will find it all here along with some more info regarding deep integration – http://blog.ashfame.com/bbpress/
In reply to: Taking a look at bbPress 0.9Poll changed overnight. Now only 40% of people are looking for a fork of bbPress 0.9 version and 60% for a fork of bbPress 1.1 version
In reply to: Matt is jumping back to bbPressThanks for the link! Didn’t knew Justing has started the work on it
In reply to: Facebook Connect HelpYou do deep integration by adding a line in
bb-config.php
to loadwp-load.php
orwp-blog-header.php
. You can check your config file to see and if you are the one who setup everything, then most probably you don’t have deep integrated setups. That said, deep integration just makes the work easier. FB connect without it is also possible but it will require someone to code that up.
In reply to: Facebook Connect HelpI think Dailytalker was using deep integration, which loads the whole of WordPress on bbPress page loads so that you can call functions on the WordPress side from bbPress itself. Thus making virtually every WP plugin to work inside bbPress

Instead of having a debate on approach to build something, lets take another chance to talk about forking bbPress.
As of poll right now, more than 70% are in favor of fork of bbPress 0.9 (You can take a look at the poll – http://poll.fm/239qh
What all will be required for a successful fork?
In reply to: Taking a look at bbPress 0.9From what I see, people who are in favor of fork of bbPress 0.9 over 1.0+ are developers only.

In reply to: bbPress 1.1 – Maybe Soon! You can enable them from the dashboard first and then you can increase the size of the avatars in your theme by the link I gave you
In reply to: bbPress 1.1 – Maybe Soon! You can do that in your theme too – http://blog.ashfame.com/2009/08/change-gravatar-size-bbpress-theme/
In reply to: Taking a look at bbPress 0.9You got it right!
In reply to: Taking a look at bbPress 0.9Building admin panels for themes and plugins are the same for 0.9v?
In reply to: Taking a look at bbPress 0.9Thanks Greg and _ck_ for participating!
I totally agree with you on the admin section.
Adding a poll to the question, what would you like to see? A fork of v0.9 or v1.1
Here is the poll – http://poll.fm/239qh
I would love to hear the implementation details
Thanks a lot
I am gonna ditch v1.0+ and start using 0.9 from now on. Will downgrade my other installations too.
I doubt if performance of bbPress as a plugin can ever proved to be better than a standalone version of 0.7-0.9
Any comments on the scalability of 0.7-0.9 branch?
@_ck_ awesome plugin you have there
I guess all your plugins are tagged https://bbpress.org/plugins/tags/_ck_
right?
And I believe even your updated plugins support 0.9 ?
In reply to: One WordPress Vs Multiple bbPressyes _ck_ is right
integrate as many installs as you want. be it on sub-domains or sub-directories
I am also in favor of using bbPress 0.9 as a standalone forum script rather than upcoming bbPress plugin.
Thanks for bringing this up!
I am with you _ck_
I would love to see bbPress 0.9 becoming as one of the best choice for standalone forum script.
In reply to: function bb_authand we are talking of
bb_auth()
here. Aren’t we?In reply to: ' when i use apostropheI think the earlier one will remain. check for new occurences
In reply to: bb_get_posts_rss_linkCare to explain them?
In reply to: Check if a user is logged in?if you are using WP 3.0, then it has a function to call for login form. use that and if you are not running WP 3.0 then to use such a thing you need to have deep integrated setup which is not recommended and in case you already are, you can use that.
Another option will be to build a normal login form and make it to send data to the bbPress, search for it, there was a thread about it recently.
and if you just want to check if user is logged in, then WP has a function is_user_logged_in()
In reply to: function bb_authbut there is nothing in the function definition for an argument
'logged-in'
how did you get that?
