As I already mentioned, it’s a very confusing phenomenon, so I don’t blame you being confused. Very easy to show, very difficult to explain, and that’s precisely why we have not yet renewed our annual subscription to WP. It takes months to resolve things there.

I really don’t understand what you’re asking me to do, and I’m certainly frustrated that a picture of the issue can’t be posted, but thanks for trying.

Our renewal expired a week ago and Word Press extended it 30 for us to see if we can fix the forum before we leave. It’s not looking good.

It’s not a blank page. It’s an empty reply box, but with no pagination or ability to navigate. I’ve screen shotted it, but of course I can’t upload here.

Here’s the url from the one that I just got

Okay they’re just reporting that a few users got ghost pages in the G&L Club thread

That could be… I can tell you that the moderator does not ever actually moderate anything. And, the forum is usually locked… Private. You must be registered to read or post in it, and yet my daily users constantly lose posts to the spam filter. Why would the software think that a regular poster was spam? Especially when I have to unspam them daily?

Okay, I can see that this will be tough to explain. They’re not timing their postings of the ghost… They’re posting ghost pictures whenever they land on the “Ghost Page”.

In a perfect world, if you responded to post number 30 of 40, after you hit submit, it would take you back to the last post that you read, and then allow you to continue reading. Our forum has never done that. On our forum, if you respond to post 30 of 40, after hitting reply, you’ll be looking at post 41.

In that case, you have to use the pagination to navigate back to the post that you last read, so that you can continue following along.

However, it gets even more complicated. I have each page set to allow 20 posts before a new page starts, so if your #41 reply, happens to be the 21st post, it would start a new page. This makes sense.

The only problem is, instead of it doing that, if you’re the 18, 19, or 20th post, it’ll take you to a blank page, with no pagination on it. Therefore, you cannot navigate back to what you last read, even manually.

Your only choice is to exit the forum, re enter it, and then select a page, one back from the most current. OR you simply post anything three times, and then the pagination will reappear.

This is when a user will post host memes, pictures, etc. Very fitting. And it save them from exiting and re entering.

Do you see the ghosts that everyone posts from it? It occurs every 18-20 posts. I can certainly register you if that’ll help diagnose.

That would be awesome! We’ve been fighting with it for so long, and I’ve really lost a ton of traffic from it, so solving it would be huge. The forum is normally private, but I’ll unlock it right now.

You’ll notice that most users whom have stuck it out, will post ghost material at the beginning of each page, in order to burn through the glitch and get back to pagination.

My experience with BBPress is definitely that it’s over-complicated in so many areas, and then completely misses the boat on the most basic of features. Until reading this thread, I had no idea just how outdated that it was.

WordPress won’t support BBPress… But BBPress is the ONLY reason that I use WordPress. I’ve spent the last year searching for the basic requirements that I need in order to keep my current and future sites here, but I’m constantly striking out.

Thanks to the internet… You can’t even hire a pro anymore. There’re so many liars and cheats out there that it’s impossible to tell who you’re hiring.

Unfortunately, It’s now easier to just switch platforms altogether than it is to continue wasting days on end, trying to get help for antiquated platforms. I’ve lost so many of my followers and subscribers, because they just couldnt deal with the glitches.

Yay! That worked awesome, and more importantly, I gained some more knowledge to help me build better! Thanks for all of your help.

I definitely see a difference between topics, replies, and other pages… So I guess I’ll have some experimenting to do. Thanks!

Yes… and with it as well. Of course, the last three numbers change as new pages are added.

I figured that, so I added it, but it made no difference in the pagination. I tried to edit it several ways and it made no visible difference.

What I’d like is for the forum topic pagination to display the last 10 pages. Right now, It display 1,2,3…722,723,724

Got it. thanks for clearing that up.

I saw no means to edit the child theme (nor do I know what that is), and the plugin had no “PHP” entry available. It allows CSS, Java, HTML, and Snippets by Name.

Yes, when I copy that code into the Additional CSS panel, all of those “Red X” appear “unexpected characters on line… ” etc.

Thanks a lot Robin, unfortunately, the code didn’t work at all. I copied and pasted it exactly, and even tried that plugin. It just gives errors.

Also… Do you think that buddypress and bbpress do the same things? I didn’t think so, but several people have implied that they do, and that it’s causing conflicts for me because I use both

Robin, Thanks for the response, and for forgiving my frustration. I was forced to learn web design and build a functional site and forum in less than a week, during the holidays, on top of an already epic workload, and without support, it’s been devastating.

I did find bbp style pack a week back and it was a game changer for me, but it doesn’t seem to address what I need. I’ve included pictures, since you were unable to see the stuff before.

The style pack allowed me to find and tweak a scheme that everyone loves, but I cant find a setting for two remaining issues, which depending on the users pc settings, become invisible because the fonts are so light.

And of course, as I say this… I’m finding that I cannot attach photo’s here, which is why I’ve become so frustrated with the process. I literally have over 24 hours into simply trying to change the color of a word, and trying to reach support for it.
