how to give users who sign up "forum participant"?

I am curious as to how to do this in multi site. Currently I have Site 1,2 and 3. Site 1 is just a blog. No need to sign up for that. Site 2 is buddy press thats all handled on its own. Site three is bbpress forums. I want users who sign up for that site to be signed up as “forum participant.” How is this done? in a single site installation you can go in and change what users are labeled as when they sign up. You can even individually change them upon them signing up. How ever in multi site you have to individually change them after they signed up… >_>

Am I doing this wrong? is it done as such: sign up for one, sign up for all?

if so How do I change it so that even though you are signed up for buddypress you must sign up for buddy press? and once done you are signed up as a forum participant.

Change the default role in your network settings.

there is no “default role” under “network settings” Where do you see this default role? there is also nothing under users in the network admin pannel to change anything. and there is no way to change the user roles on individual sites unless you do it manually for each user

Adam – You can use a plugin for that with MultiSite.

That will let you set up a new user to be a specific role per site. As for EXTRA roles, you need another plugin, like https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/members to handle that.
