I upgraded to 2.3 and now the content of forum categories are showing up in lists, however, sub forum categories only show their titles and not content.

Is there a setting for this? (Didn’t see one)
I figured I’d ask here before I peak through the code looking for a hook.

I don’t quite understand exactly what you’re describing. Can you be a bit more specific? Feel free to link to a screenshot if you think it will be helpful.

If you look at the first screenshot linked above, you can see two categories with a hand full of forums each. Under each of the two categories is the text that comes from the content editor (black font).

The issue is that each of the individual forums should also be showing their description from the content editor.

The second screenshot shows what it use to look like and the results I’m expecting.

Did you modify files in the bbPress plugin folder? If so, they get wiped out on every update, which is why the theme compatibility feature exists. (Do a search for it in the codex to learn more.)
