Password reseting in 0.8.1

  • chiensavant

I installed BBpress today as well as someone else, on the same server though (in case that’s the problem). This person couldn’t make the admin password to work, although mine worked like a charm.

I tried to reset the password and was prompted with the message saying

An email has been sent to the address we have on file for you…

But neither I or the other person (who complained it wasn’t working at first) did receive the mail.

I wonder if this wouldn’t be a bug of the latest 0.8.1 version ?

    Anyone has a fix ?

  • The obvious thing is, sure you entered/checked the right email?

Not sure how much control you have on the server, but you could go into PHP MyAdmin or somesuch and check/change the passwords (they’ll have to be md5 encrypted, though).

If that’s too techy, I think you’re going to have to reinstall. Might be simpler?

Reinstall did the trick for the other user.

I looked in the MySQL table and surely enough, the password were MD5 encrypted…

But still, resetting the password DOES NOT WORK. My email is correctly set, BBpress is functional, but as the owner I don’t seem to be able to change my password because I never receive any email from BBpress…

Interestingly, it seem to work for other users.

Maybe something is wrong with the mail server ? Just guessing…

    Check this:

If you pre-encrypt the password and insert that value, you can then log in with your new password (in this case “test”).
