Ads & Advertising – user friendly?

  • I’m starting a new forum for the niche industry i’m involved with. There is no online community for my industry so i’m planning on some of the big companies advertising on the site if it picks up like i’m hoping.

    I saw this plugin:

    http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bb-ads/

but it hasn’t been updated in years, and it seems to be giving lots of errors.

I’m not much (at all) of a coder/developer so i’m hoping to find an easy way of doing this. An automated system would be great, but is there even a manual workaround available? Maybe pasting html somewhere?

Any and all ideas are welcomed!

  • Are these forums dead? The community for bbPress doesn’t seem very active at all. Scary.

Any hope of getting something like this to work?

the bbPress community in a bit of a transition period while it gets rereleased as a WordPress plugin.

But, yes you can put advertising on your site using OpenX – it would require editing your forum’s theme files by placing the code generated in OpenX in the spots you want them to appear.

Any web developer/designer should be able to do quite easily.

Great thanks. I’m wondering if i should wait to launch my site until the plugin gets made. . .

bbPress is so simple and nice looking. . . it’s perfect for the demographic of my users.

    Hmmm. . .

Maybe you should wait to have your site launch your website and let the plugin be made and see the difference.
