In reply to: Prune Users – I wrote a plugin
I was going through my mental checklist of possible problems, and I realized that I’m sharing the user table with two or three subdomains that are using separate installations of wordpress. I’m assuming that your code has no way to see if there’s comments or posts on those other wp-posts tables?
In reply to: Spam, and other issuesis there a way to turn off xmlrpc for just the forums? I use it on the main site to post from other sites using xpost. Primarily so that when I do a post at (general geek stuff site) I can crosspost it to (specific geek stuff site) all at the same time.
In reply to: Prune Users – I wrote a pluginI have over 200,000+ users on one of my sites, most of them due to spammy spammers spamming up the place, is this an all in one thing that will try to load all 200,000+ or does it do them a chunk at a time?
thanks for the code, this something that should be baked in, along with email verification of accounts before they can post.
In reply to: Spam, and other issuesI’m getting hit pretty hard by spammers as well, they’re actually registering for accounts, email authenticated, and then spamming about ugg boots.
When I delete the spam accounts, afaik, it’s deleting the entire thread that they had spammed, not just their comment. when I hit the “spam” button, the spam still shows up in the thread, just highlighted in red.
with the small details that still need to be worked out, I think we’d better wait till a 2.1 release to actually mention it. a fair amount of people are still a little confused as to where the forums are installed to, how to administrate them, and most importantly, how to integrate their themes into the new bbpress. I’d say after those three major things are mentioned in the install instructions and made a bit clearer / automated, then it’s time to invite the masses
are you attempting to use two different themes for your site? one for the wordpress install and one for the bbpress? in my own installations, I didn’t copy or move any templates around at all, and just installed bbpress and it worked with the template that I was using for my main site…
In reply to: bbPress plugin – A little issue@andreas your site’s css isn’t loading properly for me on any of your pages, I’d look into that first before you look into what’s going on with bbpress.
@ferdilicious sorry someone couldn’t help you with your needs
In reply to: BBPress AvatarsI too would like avatar display to be an option.
just wanted to say that this converter worked much better than the included one. The included one didn’t really do anything, it just sat there and looked silly.
In reply to: No instructions = waste of timeperhaps in the bbpress installation, there should be a suggestion to add a page with the shortcode already on it, or create a link in the menu. It took me a while to figure out just where the ‘new’ forum was.
just deactivate the “Display Name” plugin and try again, that was the only solution I’ve found. You can reactivate it after you do you changes
