In reply to: Plugin: YouTube in bbPressHey Trent,
How can I set this so Moderators can also post youtube videos.
Thanks,
Orion
In reply to: bbpress wysiwyg statusAwesome, quicktags will do for now… thanks!
In reply to: sticky to latest discussionsBeautiful, it worked, thanks!
In reply to: sticky to latest discussionsNot sure if I was completely clear on this one. If you view the bbPress forum page, then under the latest discussions there are stickies. I am not sure if this a feature unique to the forum located here, but when I turn a topic into a sticky it only sticks inside the forum it is registered, and it doesn’t stick in the latest discussion section (like the stickies on this forum’s latest discussions).
Thanks for the help.
In reply to: Latest Discussion ErrorHey Atsutane,
I was just going to post that I figured it out. On my last set up I was using a dedicated server with a local host for the DB, but this time I was running into an error with shared server and externally hosted DB. With the dedicated server I simply used a path in the BB Press Location field. When using a simple path on my shared server I was given the error, but when I changed it to the full url (http://mysite/) the plugin worked!
Thanks for such a great plugin, one of my favorites!

In reply to: just wanted to shareYes, I agree. That change will have to wait till we change out the Flash. The original theme of BJ’s book was supposed to be similar to the banner, but we changes the direction on the book cover. The banner was supposed to reflect the book cover design… for the book will be on barnes and noble shelfs and etc… bla bla bla, anyway, I agree and thanks for sharing your comment.
In reply to: Latest Disscussions PluginThink I just found a temporary fix. We have maybe 7 wordpress users that use display names. I don’t think that bbpress users can edit display names in the bbpress profile section, so this must of been why it was showing up blank when our bbPress users (not wp users) were posting in the forums. I fixed the issue by un-checking the “integrated with wordpress” check box on the bdLP options page.
Our bbpress and wordpress users don’t switch sides so much, so it shouldn’t be to much of an issue.

In reply to: Latest Disscussions PluginHey Atsutane,
I had another question. I noticed that the members name only seems to appear next to users using nicknames. For example, if I add a nickname to a user, then the users name will appear next to the latest post. But if a new bbPress user who doesn’t use a Wpress nickname posts, then there name doesn’t show up next to the latest post. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Orion
In reply to: Latest Disscussions PluginHey Atsutane & Community,
Figured it out. I re-read my post above and noticed something a askew in the line:
‘content._bbtopics’
It should be “bb_” and not “_bb”
So I made a bit of an error when imputing in the options. Anyhow, Atsutane, thanks for an excellent plugin! It is one of my personal favorites.
Our site is now live at http://victorybelt.com. There is still plenty of areas I have to clean up, but we were rushed to go public, and we were at least able to get up and running in firefox and ie6.
Thanks for all the support! With out this community it would not have been possible.
Best,
Orion
In reply to: Latest Disscussions PluginHey Atsutane,
I tried deactivating and reactivating the plugin. Also tried re-uploading the plugin, and I am still running into the same issue.
I’m not sure what to look for in the option page at this point. I will have to research some more. Any additional ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Orion
In reply to: Latest Disscussions PluginI am still a stuck on this, I am not totally sure what to enter in my plugin options. With the old plugin I adjusted these options in the plugin php file:
$bbpath = ‘/content/forums’; // Adjust the path to suit your bbpress location. Example: ‘/forums’
$forum_slimit = ’20’; // Adjust the limit to show
… and I was able to get the feature working.
In the options menu for the new plugin I have adjusted the path to reflect the above path. I left the options below the “External DB” option blank: “Bbpress DB User, Bbpress DB Pass, Bbpress DB Name, Bbpress DB Host,” for I believe these are for using the external database, and I am using the local host and sharing a database with WordPress. (I also tried filling the “Bbpress DB User, Bbpress DB Pass, Bbpress DB Name, Bbpress DB Host” options, with out checking the external datatbase box, and I ran into the same issue.)
Anyhow, I will have to re-activate the old v.3 working plugin for now, and we will have to manually edit the title lengths in the meantime. I will still be pushing for a solution, and if anyone has any ideas to why I can’t get this plugin working, the help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Orion
btw- i’m on WordPress 2.1 & bbPress 0.8.1
In reply to: Latest Disscussions Pluginit appears that my options page is not making changes to the plugin. Hmmm, I checked the plugin file, and it looks like the changes I made are still set to the defaults.
In reply to: Latest Disscussions PluginThanks for the replies. I have updated the plugin, but now I am getting an errors on my wordpress pages:
WordPress database error: [Table ‘content._bbtopics’ doesn’t exist]
SELECT * FROM _bbtopics WHERE topic_status = 0 ORDER BY topic_time DESC LIMIT 50
I am starting to research this, and if anyone else already knows what the problem might be, feel free to chime in.

Orion
In reply to: Latest Disscussions PluginHey Community,
We are getting closer to the launch of our site, and we are still having trouble with our bbpress title lengths interfering with our wordpress layout.
You can see our bbpress forum locations spread through out the site.
Is there any way to put a limit on the length of titles so they don’t break our site? We are using the same setup as described above.
Any help would be appreciated, even if it means some sort of a temp css fix to hide overflow.
Thanks,
Orion
In reply to: Latest Disscussions PluginAnother question that would be a solution… is there a way to limit the length of bbPress forum title posts?
In reply to: Changing a Domain nameWow! Thanks a lot spencerp. As a visual person, a visual tutorial is priceless.
I am in love with WordPress and bbPress. I was originally thinking of going with phpbb, but man, this bbPress is so sleek, so easy to customize, and has so much potential.
Thanks again,
Orion
In reply to: Changing a Domain nameWow… thats not so bad then. After reading what I have to do in WP I was a bit intimidated. I will be sure to back everything up and give it a go by mid next week.
Thanks for the info.

In reply to: Changing a Domain nameIs that it? I am actually working with both WordPress and bbPress integrated. There is quite alot of work that needs to be done WP on the database side ( https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL ) , so I was figuring something similar would need to be done for bbPress. Although, they are sharing a database, not sure if that makes a difference. Any other thoughts?
In reply to: bbPress 0.8No problem… keep up the great work. I am really enjoying integrating the current version into a WP CMS website I am working on… I can’t wait to see how these two evolve together.
Any new projection on a release date, maybe a couple of days or weeks?
In reply to: bbPress 0.8That would be awesome! I am willing to be excited! Even if it means prolonging the excitement, but I will keep my fingers crossed.
In reply to: PHP call for bbPress rootHmmm… I am going to have to dig into this a bit later. It looks like it is going to take some work. I am actually trying to integrate product advertisements that I have set up in wordpress to be pulled into my forum template. Not exactly sure how to do it. At first I imagined that I would create another directory in the root that both WP and bbP could share from, but I will have to check into this later.
It would be awesome if WP and bbPress could share includes seamlessly.
Anyhow, I have to get back to building the actual forum before I get caught up and miss our goal.
If any other ideas or etc. come up, please share.
Thanks Trent!
