Umm…you could have 2 different instances running on 2 different subdomains. You can style them so that both look similar to your website.
Or you can just have the researcher forums set as private…instead of installing 2 different instances….

What is Genesis Framework? Is it available as a WP plugin? Can I keep using my current theme and for bbPress also use Genesis Framework and bbPress Genesis Extend?
Ok, so your theme is doing something wonky.
Try changing theme to TwentyEleven and see if bbPress still doesn’t work.
That’s a bit of a conundrum.
The author of the theme I use informs me that WP theme reviewers have recently instituted a new policy that any support for Custom Post Types does not belong in themes.
You can write a post and pin it to the top, like JJJ does on these forums (and is generally the accepted norm on most forums)
If you want the instructions to be upfront (and if they are short enough), you might want to try putting them in the description of a forum.
I ended up overwriting my installed bbpress files with new ones via FTP. JJJ says you should delete all bbpress files and then write the new ones there.
There are no conflicts.
Also went to WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks and hit Save.
For some strange reason only subforums are behaving badly.
www.domain.com/forum/f/forum-name/subforum-name returns 404.
I tried monkeyman’s rewrite analyzer and have been told that the rewrite rule is working; something else is in the way.
I tried putting print(debug_backtrace()); after function set_404() { in wp-includes/query.php but did not get any intelligible debug information…all that happens is: a single word Array gets prefixed to the top of the 404 page.
I have also discovered that in the database, in the table wp_posts the value stored in column guid for these subforums is http://www.domain.com/forum/f/subforum-name i.e. without the parent forum’s slug.
If I try to visit www.domain.com/forum/f/subforum-name then I do get to the subforum page. Funnily enough, the breadcrumbs on that page depict the correct path including the parent forum.
Curiously, when I create a new subforum, the guid field for it is www.domain.com/?post_type=forum&#XXX;p=YYYY If I try to follow that URL, I end up at forums base.
I should point out that this messed up parent-child relationship is only occuring for bbPress…I have many hierarchical pages in WP, and they all seem fine.
Actually, user profile link is misbehaving similarly.
Having trouble installing 3786.
Extracted everything. Renamed plugin to bbpress. Put bbpress in zip archive bbpress.zip
From WP Admin > Plugins > Add New > Upload
Selected bbpress.zip
Selected Yes from “update existing plugin” dropdown (I am using Easy theme and plugin updgrades https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades/ )
Clicked upload.

Yoast looks pretty good. And he works hard at compatibility with other plugins. Give it a go (there’s an import tool for All-in-One SEO)
Umm…except that the usernames (in frontend only) appear as imported_username instead of username. Anyone know the fix?

If you click on “Activate Plugin” immediately upon installation from the Add New Plugin area, the plugin does throw up the error
The plugin does not have a valid header.
However, if I later to to installed plugins, and then click “Activate”, then I am able to activate and use the plugin.
I am also happy to report that I was able to successfully convert a phpBB 3.0.9 forum. It’s not perfect…I need to fix a few things here or there, but it is good enough…as good as can be expected from a general-purpose automated converter.

I am using the latest version of WordPress 3.3.1
I have tried both bbPress 2.0 and 2.0.2
I installed bbConverter through WP’s admin panel so the plugin version is 1.3
When I click Activate immediately upon installation, I get

bbpress should already match your site’s look and feel if you have installed bbPress plugin for WordPress. bbPress ships with a TwentyTen child theme which is used to lay out the bbPress pages within the wrapper of your active theme (if the active theme is not already bbPress-supporting)
