That seemed like such a likely culprit – but didn’t change a thing. Cleared caches, etc, but no effect at all. 🙁
I tried it with twentyten, plugins (other than bbpress) disabled.
What I mean by “not working” this:
All comments (and replies) are being listed chronologically, instead of “threading”, which I understand to be (1) appearing directly underneath the replied-to comment, (2) indented.
Neither of those things happen when a comment is replied to.
Clicking the “reply” link to any comment slides the screen down to the comment form at bottom. Though the form has a little “reply to (comment)” title, the comment shows up at the very bottom of the page, i.e. chronologically. Replying to that reply has the same result. No indent.
(I’d be happy to grant private access to the site!)
Thanks for responding!
Threaded comments are enabled, 10 levels deep.
The identical settings as in wp-admin > Settings > Forums.
You’ve gone above and beyond, thank you.
Unfortunately, there’s still no effect at all. Argh.
I’m wondering if I’m missing something at some fundamental level here. Could the fact that I’m using a child theme have any effect? Or the fact that this is a Divi Theme environment?
At this point, I’d happily send you login credentials so you could take a look around. If you’re willing, let’s figure out how that could work.
I’ve upgraded to WP 4.9.1.
Tried disabling all plugins outside of BBPress AND switching to the Twenty Seventeen theme, still no effect.
And just to be clear, here’s what I’m looking at:
Thanks to both of you! I truly appreciate any and all help I can get, especially when i’m just trying to make the software work as designed.
So. The code supplied by @heathcliff2013 had no effect either, and I’m stumped.
Any other suggestions, dear forum?
Please, forum, I would love some help with this.
