In reply to: I just want header/footer
@ bruinfelix, I looked at your site and you did not integrate the header at all.
@ caming, in my experience it’s not an easy thing to do. There is some info floating around here about using an include to get your WP header to show up on bbPress but it’s not pretty.
My advice to you would be to rebuild it in bbPress and then spend some time making it look smooth. At a minimum this will involve you bringing your header over (either through the style sheet or the header.php) and then recreating your nav bar.
You can see that I’ve done it here…
If this helps at all I’d be happy to answer any questions you have.
In reply to: Can’t change user infoI switched the theme to default and tried it again. Upon hitting submit the password fields highlighted in red – which they don’t do in the Options theme.
For some reason in Firefox and only with this particular installation of bbPress my first password field auto fills. The page thinks I’m trying to change my password and wants me to fill both password fields.
Problem solved!
In reply to: Can’t change user infoHmmm. I know I’m just guessing here but I really thought this would work…
I deleted the full database of one of the three installations along with the config file. Then ran the installation, set up my account, tried to change my info – I could change my ‘First Name’ but not anything else.
So, if I am right and integrating cookies is my problem how do I un-integrate if not through the database of config file?
In reply to: Can’t change user infoWordPress 2.7.1
What did I do to make sure the cookies worked? Hmmm. Well, I went through the entire integration process in the bbPress admin panel. I never took it further than just setting it up because my site is brand new and realizing that I didn’t know how to integrate 3 bbPress databases into one WP install I talked myself out of the idea. So, nothing that I can think of.
Here is the link to my site. Like I said it’s kind f a live trial run so nothing much is happening. Also, all of the plugins that I’m using are also used with my other forums that work.
Is there a way to re-set the cookies integration?
In reply to: Can’t change user infoJust to clarify…
This is only affecting the sites with integrated cookies and only on Firefox.
In reply to: Can’t change user infoThanks for the reply!
Alpha 6
Here are some variables that might help…
– I updated recently from 0.9.0.4 (although I also updated my other site and it’s fine)
– I integrated cookies with WordPress
– not limited to Keymaster accounts
– works fine with Safari but not with the latest Firefox
I hadn’t integrated the database yet as I am running three installations on one site and was looking for the best way to do so (I’ve since decided that I’m going to keep them seperate).
My site is new so I’m not too bothered by the thought of starting the database over unless there is a quick fix for this…
In reply to: A question about customizing bbcode buttonsThanks _ck_,
It worked perfectly!
In reply to: Instant PasswordHey _ck_,
Well I threw both files into diffmerge. The ‘do_action and apply_filter’ code is there. My file was missing ‘php echo $key’ – but I really don’t know if that matters or not.
I think I might give it a while and see how it goes without the plugin. If I find I can’t live without it I may be back!
BTW, I spent some time on your site last night. The top 100 list was very interesting and inspiring!
Thanks for the hard work!
In reply to: Instant PasswordBluehost – the latest for everything – tested on Firefox 3 and Safari – all on a Mac.
Hope that helps!
In reply to: Instant Password_ck_,
I really don’t want to give up on this plugin as it makes the most sense to me to have it.
Any thoughts on why I can’t get it to work?
In reply to: Logged into one – logged into all.kevinjohngallagher,
I run six installations of bbPress – so I hardly think that it is fair to imply that I don’t ‘care for BBpress (sic) development’ or that I was trying to ‘bump’ my website views. I honestly couldn’t care less about the one or two views I might get from this forum. Furthermore, it is an annoyance to have Google bring up this post – so if anything I am generally inclined not to include the link – except that a) I thought it might be helpful to see the set up and b) as I said, people usually bitch when I don’t include a link.
I do think you need to learn how to show a little restraint though. On top of going too far in your first post you go on to imply that I am trying to bump my views, have bad forum decorum, don’t care about bbPress, read English insensitively and perhaps most incorrectly, say things on this forum that I wouldn’t say in person.
I thanked you for the step by step – for which I am sincerely grateful. Unfortunately, it came with a condition – a little unasked for advice and a little self righteousness.
I don’t want to fight with you though. You think I was in the wrong + I think you were in the wrong = nothing gets solved.
Thanks again for the help, I’ll try it out soon.
In reply to: Logged into one – logged into all.@ kevinjohngallagher,
Thanks for the step by step man – I’ll definitely give it a shot.
Not really sure what the first and last points you made have anything to do with my question – guess you just enjoy being a dick on forums.
a) I did put the site together locally and realized that I wanted them to talk to each other after I made it live.
b) If I include a link people bitch, if I don’t include a link people bitch. I’ve learned to live with that fact.
In reply to: Instant Password_ck_,
I might be missing something here –
I just installed bbPress (0.9.0.4) on a different site and still get the same message with instant password. I don’t have bbPress and WordPress integrated.
What could I be doing wrong?
Here’s the link – just started building it live yesterday so not much action yet…
