agl666 I’m no whiz but i would export both databases and merge them into an sql file, then dump back into your wpmu install. This will be a tricky operation, but unless someone else has a better idea I see no other way to do it.

Just to follow up, what I did was use ssh to export my bbpress users from the db, and my wp users from the db, merge the 2, and bring them back into the wp db. Then turned on integration, and it works.

This took a long time and was a little hairy, but it works nicely now.

So I see it is possible, I just tried this:

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/wp-integration-coockie-does-not-work#post-61676

but that didn’t work either, after following all the instructions it doesn’t log me into the blog after I log into wp.

Just a note that I downloaded this and installed on bbPress 1.0.2, it worked perfectly.

    Thanks for this!

With head hung low I come here to update:

After a week off of this, I fired it up again and noticed that I had installed an older version of bbpress, .9. I upgraded to 1.1 and clicked a few things and was perfectly integrated.

Thanks for helping, everyone, I appreciate it.

    Thanks Buddha,

I tried all of these, to no avail. I also tried that other page, worked my way through it, but that thread just kind of fizzed out with no resolution either. I’ve tried to read that 101 page before. it’s too long with too much conflicting info.

One of them led me to this page, to generate a SALT:

    https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt

I tried that, put it in both config files, and it didn’t work.

The only headway I made was that in adding your “speedup” rules, I was unable to log out of bbpress. At least it was something.

The cookie hash I generated here:

    http://www.adamek.biz/md5-generator.php

Some said to include the www. in these url values (cookiehash, COOKIE_DOMAIN, etc), some said not, I tried both and still couldn’t get it to work.

I appreciate your help Buddha, it might be that I need to learn more about cookies; as it is, I’m just stabbing in the dark here, I’m not totally familiar with how all these things work.

Just a note here – I did the same thing as dragunoff. The only snag I encountered was that the admin account(s) needed special care, or I was locked out of my blog.

Also, I dumped the nicename data into the display_name field.

Isn’t this what BuddyPress is for?

As an aside, I wish integration btwn wp and bbpress were easier. Ever since I installed this forum, it’s been my dream to have one login for the whole site, I’ve never been able to get it to work.

Ok, I restored the database via mySQL.

    Thanks, Dreamhost!
