It is the plugin. I had it turned off because WordPress warns that it hasn’t been updated for over a year.
@robkk if you were here I’d give you a big kiss. I’ve had over 30 emails/contact form messages from website members complaining about the forums disappearing. My web designer in in the Arctic for Xmas, I couldn’t find anyone else with bbPress experience, couldn’t find any instance of a similar problem through many, many internet searches, it’s been a stressful 24 hours so thank you very kindly.See the following image which is in the ‘New Post’ section of the back end of the site. The arrow highlights where there used to be an option to add a bbPress forum but it’s now gone:
http://whichinvestmenttrust.com/wp-content/uploads/bbPress-option-has-gone.jpg
Yes the forums still exist @Robk but they’ve disappeared from posts.
What I mean by that is when you create a new post you have the option of adding a bbPress forum, an option which I always took so that every article has a new or an existing forum linked to it. But the option to add a forum has disappeared, and worse than that so have all the forums have disappeared from every post.
Here is a great example of a post that that had man comments and that looks ridiculous without its forum:
http://whichinvestmenttrust.com/investor-clinic-income-life-required-inheritance/Thor forum is always at the bottom of the page.
I don’t understand how I simply cannot have forums on my posts any more and after 20 hours of searching around the internet I have no semblance of an answer.
How does bbPress integrate with WordPress? What would prevent it from suddenly not integrating?
Where is bbPress support???????
Hello?
I have found some more information that may be relevant. My forums still exist, here’s one http://whichinvestmenttrust.com/forums/topic/our-top-10-tips-on-where-to-start-as-a-new-investor/
The option to select a bbPress forum is gone when I’m creating a post but even if I use a short code such as [bbp-single-forum id=8671] the forum still fails to appear in the post.
I can’t figure out what’s stopping this from working, what is blocking it?
In reply to: Comments not appearing immediatelyThanks guys.
I have W3 Total Cache and Super Cache but both are deactivated. Beofre I turned off all of my plugins Super Cache was activated. My hosting company 1and1 provides me with Cloudfare. Maybe this could be causing it. 1and1 have a new WordPress service that I’m using with dedicated WordPress support. I have contacted them to see if they can resolve.
I’ll report back incase anyone else encounters this problem too.
In reply to: User friendly User Post-Editing tools/optionsI found a better solution that the one I was using whilst searching the BBPress Plugin forums. ‘bbPress Enable TinyMCE Visual Tab’ – works much better, though I can’t get it to upload images at present, but atleast there are other image embeding options for bbPress.
In reply to: Comments not appearing immediatelySorry @netweb, I discovered your reply only this evening.
I followed the above instruction but it hasn’t resolved my issue.
Until a couple of months back, as soon as a member posted in a forum on my site they could see their post. Now they can’t unless they go to their profile and click on ‘Activity’.
The posts eventually appear but take so long that it completely stops the fluidity of conversations.
Has anyone else come across this issue and does anyone have any suggestions for how it might be resolved?
I have the latest version of both WordPress and bbPress. My website is http://www.whichinvest.com
Thanks
In reply to: Comments not appearing immediatelyMember of my website can only comment via BBPress. I’ve switched off WordPress comments because that would be confusing.
I haven’t been able to find evidence of anyone else experiencing the same thing on the BBPress forums and I’ve searched BuddyPress too so I’m looking to identify potential culprits. Plugins have got to be up there!
In reply to: How to make forums look better/prettierThanks @robin-w I’ll have a look at all of those.
Many thanks for replying.
@bigblueball Can I ask why you left vBulletin for bbPress?
I’m looking for an alternative to bbPress because I can’t fix it, it doesn’t work well and has poor support documentation.
I don’t want to make the same mistake again and so I’d appreciate a little feedback on vBulletin.
Thanks
Thanks Stephen, I will try there.
Stephen thank you for your reply.
I seem to have done this already today, though not intentionally, I have been working on resolving this for the past 6 hours.
The image below confirms that I now have 91 participants. But if you click on my ‘Members’ on my home page it states there are now 20 members (link here http://www.whichinvestmenttrust.com/members/ ).
I believe ‘Members’ comes from Buddypress and not from BBPress so I’ve been wondering if there is a disconnect there? Maybe I haven’t set it up properly.
I’ve looked through a lot of forums and posts both on BBpress, WordPress and several other websites bit I’ve not seen anyone else posting this issue.
Thanks, Dice
Gosh this is so frustrating.
When I click on ‘WangGuard Users’ it states I have 89 verified members. How does WangGuard connect with BBPress?
The 89 definitely includes members who registered on my site before I installed BBPress.
I’ve found a tool to import members it is here….. https://codex.bbpress.org/import-forums/
But it doesn’t seem to include WordPress members. It is just members of other forums software.
A solution might be to uninstall BBPress and install something that works better but if I uninstall BBPress will it delete my members?
I see others using http://disqus.com Maybe that would work better?
In reply to: Posts Pluggin/Social Media login/Forum PagesHas anyone used ‘bbPress Topics for Posts’?
I’d love to hear from someone who has used it.
Thanks, Dice
