  • I would like to replace the ‘Hot Tags’ section in the ‘Misty’ theme with a box in which I can enter and change custom text.

    Thanks!

    I’m not code savvy. Can you please advise the specifics of what and where within the file to add it?

    Thank you!

    Thanks. I finally got it worked out. The site I was using themes from wasn’t uploading into my ftp site correctly. I found another site that had some themes and they uploaded fine.

    Yes. My dashboard looks like that. But I can’t see or activate new themes I’ve uploaded per the directions on the bbpress.org site. I can’t make color changes or change the look at all.

    Great. Can you tell me where to make that change?

    I’d really like to get this resolved. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can see the Presentation portion of the admin panel? thanks in advance.

    I uploaded a template called Green Night into my my-templates folder as ‘themes and templates’ recommends. I would like to apply it.

    I am new to bbpress, so I’m unsure what all admin should be able to do… but do not have any options under appearance, there is not pull down menu.

    I changed all the permission to 755. I still cannot see the presentation option, therefore I can’t control the look of the site at all. Any more suggestions?

    thanks!

    I’m struggling with a similar issue. In wp-config.php file, the lines only go through 32 and the below aren’t anywhere in there.

    define(‘AUTH_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);

    define(‘SECURE_AUTH_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);

    define(‘LOGGED_IN_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);

    define(‘NONCE_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);

    I’m trying to follow the instructions on this particular thread but I do not have lines 55-61 as suggested below.

    Open wp-config line replace your new keys with the one from that link. (lines 55-61)

    Does this mean my wordpress site is not set up for users to login?

    Where do I go from here?

    Thank you!

    I’m getting the error

    There was a problem connecting to the database you specified.

    Please check the settings, then try again.

    just like above. I looked in the wp-config.php and copied them from there. I’ve tried placing the simple names themselves and also using DB_name, DB_user, and DB_password. I continue to get that error. What might the issue be?

    Never mind. I figured it out. thanks.

    This is the error I get

    The requested URL /blog/forum was not found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    However, all the bbpress files uploaded successfully to the forum folder on my server and mysite.com can be found. So what might be the issue if the forum folder is there on the server but giving me a 404 error?

    I’ve uploaded the folder as you instructed and it sits along side wp-admin, content, and includes.

    I’m now at… “Visit the intended URL of the bbPress site” I assume that is my URL where the forum will be located, but I’m not being greeted with the installer. Am I going to the right place?

    I love that response! I’ll be brave. Can I bother you along the way with questions?

    Thank you so much. That is helpful. Will I quickly be getting in ‘over my head’ by doing this myself or is it doable for a newbee?

    I’m very new at this. I’m unclear where specifically to put the bbpress folder so that it will properly interface as an addition to my wordpress blog. Can you please advise in which directory the bbpress folder should sit?

    thank you.
