    Hi John,

    I got my forums to show after following the install steps again. I copied the files from the bbp-twentyten folder to my main theme folder and then added the line: add_theme_support( ‘bbpress’ );

to my functions.php file (inside this main theme folder, not the one in wp-includes…I’m assuming this is correct?)

The forum now shows, but the styling is all messed up. Is there any way to have the forum follow the formatting/style of my current theme without having to edit a bunch of CSS? The theme I’m using is a custom build which I did not create so it’s been a struggle to figure out what’s going on with it. Here’s a link to my forum page:

    http://foreverathletes.com/forums/forum/community-2/

If I merge the contents of the bbp-twentyten functions.php file with my own functions.php, some styling is brought in, but it’s still a mess. I realize you’re not here to help with design aspects, but is there any way to get the plugin to just work with my current styling?

I’ll offer up some points on clarification in a few.

    Thanks for the help.

    John,

I’m going back through the original theme compatibility topic. I’ve noticed some of the answers are in the comments section of that thread. I do know how to use child themes, I just believe the instructions for the custom install are worded in a confusing way. Thanks for the response.

Don’t want this topic pushed to the next page, so bumping it. Anybody have any ideas at all? It’s awfully quiet in here!

    Update:

I created a child theme of my current theme with an appropriate style.css file in the child theme folder. I’ve placed the bbp-twentyten folder in the parent theme folder (not child), but should it go in the child theme folder? And do I edit the style.css file inside of the bbp-twentyten folder at all?

Anybody help me out here? Is it possible for a theme to just not be compatible?

Any opinions on this? Didn’t want this to get lost in the sea of other posts here…

Ok, so I tried upgrading again following the upgrade instructions and without my altered kakumei blue theme. The upgrade took me a couple times however, as the first time it said that I was supposed to run the upgrade script and after clicking on that link it said there was nothing to upgrade. The second time around, I pointed my browser to the upgrade.php file and it took me to the install window…was this correct? After filling in the database details and what not, it completed successfully but then said “nothing to upgrade” again and took me to the forums. However, it DID update to 1.0.1. Should I be concerned that this may have not been a clean upgrade and I could run into problems? Or should I roll with since it seems to be working?

Not sure why i’m having so many problems with this upgrade process….

Hmm, that’s interesting because I did use the updated version of approve user registration. Guess I will just have to try this again and see how things go. I’ll update here after.

    John,

I do not have a WordPress install attached to bbpress. The upgrade went smoothly except for one error that said I already had forums. Other than that, everything seemed to work fine except for the registration. For registration, I am using the plugins “approve user registration”, “terms of service”, and “human test”, but I had deactivated all of these prior to upgrade and then again when testing the default theme.

Tried that. Replaced the Templates folder with the original and still did not work.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, pwrshot.com went down yesterday (error on my part) and won’t be back up for most likely a week. Apologies to anyone attempting to check out the site.

    Hey,

I’m actually quite a few plugins. Simple Google Adsense, Members Online, User Photo for bbPress, Forum is category, bbPress Polls, BBVideo, and bbSocialize to name a few.

Thanks Michael. And good point about the [closed] label. I changed it to [Read Only].
