Hi all,

Currently using WordPress 3.5.1 with bbPress 2.3. You can see my site here: http://jacobhipp.com/mist4620/forums/content-3/

This plugin has been perfect for what I have been using it for, however, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to allow regular users to delete their own posts. I have seen some older topics with info (>1 year old) and have tried to edit user roles to give permissions but have not had any luck. Was anybody able to figure this out? This is a pretty important feature to have..

The reason users aren’t allowed to delete their own posts, is because in the traditional forum sense, allowing users to modify or delete their content far after the fact can actually have negative consequences for the entire site, manipulating search results, causing 404 issues, and other URL hacks.

If this is a feature that you need as part of your community, you’ll need to invest in having this custom feature built, or read through the code and learn how to do it yourself like the rest of us. 🙂

Correct. The participant role cannot delete their own posts.

There are no plans to enable this functionality.

I’ve just added functionality to bbp-style pack for participants to close their own topics – to set see item 17 in Topic/Reply Display tab to set this
