All searches for ‘user guide for bbpress’ are all about us…how to set it up. But is there a real user guide resource for users of our sites that could be referenced in a help section for our members or in a support forum (for both bbpress and buddy press)

if you mean a ‘how to use our forums’, then no, not that I know of.

If you write one, in the spirit of open software please let us know, and I’ll add it to the support documentation.

I’d love to do something like a guide someday but I can’t even figure out how to let users start a topic.

You can email me your ideas , or if you want to start writing it out soon you can write in a Google Doc Spreadsheet and email it to me , so I could put it in the codex.
