completely unable to edit. The forums are behind a membership wall but as the administrator and site owner I can’t figure out why I don’t have access. I reviewed my user roles to confirm.
ok, I would strongly suspect you membership wall, presumably a plugin – not a lot we can do if it is.

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.
Plugins
Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.
