Hi there,

I am highly interested to shut down my old phpBB forum that is installed next to my WP install. Right now I want to switch over to bbPress, but what keeps me from doing so is the fact that bbPress uses the same database as WP does.

Is there a way to make bbPress work with its own database?

Can you explain what you concern is over sharing the database?

Security (forum gets hacked, WP gets hacked) and traffic/performance, but also because I would like do keep my WP database as tidy as possible. But it would be nice not to discuss about that – I’m just interested if this is possible, and if yes, how. 😉
