This is an issue I am struggling for a long time now.
I have wordpress 4.3.1 installed and bbPress 2.5.8. The formerly created forums are running but I don’t see any Forum options in my dashboard. I have deleted the plugin and installed it again, to no avail.

Even when bbPress is the only plugin activated it don’t show.
    Please help.

    Goede middag Adri,

Can you get to this page ? (with your domain of course)
    http://www.example.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=forum

    Are you a Keymaster/administrator ?

    Pascal.

    Goedemiddag Pascal,

Yes, I am the administrator of this site. It is still under development and is running locally.
When I try to load the url you provided (of course with my local domain name) I get this response:

    ———————-
    Cheatin’ uh?
    ———————-

Do you know what is happening here?

It would be great if you can help me out here.
I’m struggling (on and of) for more as a half year now.

    Thanks in advance.

Ha, on a local machine, have seen that before… Let me try to find it back.
There were some things to check like permissions on the folder, the site URL in your general settings and something about the local port (just from memory).
Will try to find it later. Stay tuned !
    Pascal.

    Hier zijn we weer.

Can you check this post and see if it helps ? https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/how-to-get-bbpress-to-work-on-a-local-wamp-installation/#post-151416

    Hey Pascal, goeiemorgen,

    Thank you for your reply.
Sadly it did not work at all.

    The setting

Dashboard / Settings / Forums: Default User Role = Participant; leave other settings at default.

could not be changed because it is unavailable in the settings pane of the dashboard as well.

Permalinks and Port numbers were already set to the suggested ones.

I hope you have another suggestion for me.

Then I’m really out of ideas 🙁

What you could do is just delete all of it and restart from scratch : https://codex.bbpress.org/getting-started/testing-your-bbpress-installation/creating-a-test-site/

There is something wrong with your local installation… I have never created a local one, but immediately went to a provider to have an account (even the very basic one). Maybe someone else has some ideas here.

    Pascal.

    Found it….
It was really to simple to spill words over it. None the less it may be useful to anyone else.

It came down to the fact that I (although I am the site admin) had a role as Participant.
There was another admin account with the role of key master so I logged in with that account and was able to change the admin user to a Forum key master role.

    This problem is solved!

I always forget about that one haha. It should usually be step 1 for sure to troubleshoot this issue for users.

Step 1: Are you a Keymaster?

Glad you are resolved @adri-oosterwijk 🙂
