insert/ edit image (links) not working

    @timmoser

    Ahoy,
    I am using

    bbPress 2.5.14-6684
    BuddyPress 3.1.0
    bbp style pack 3.9.6
    WordPress 4.9.8
    running Bento (Child) theme
    on this page bomb.bio/forum

    I am having a problem with the insert/edit image button (in the text version the img button) not working. Image links added this way do not display.
    Posting the same link without the tag automaticaly added when using this button works fine as long as they are in a new line.

    Does anyone have any idea how I can get this to work? Even removing the misleading button or changing the button functionality so it wont add the tag which seems to make the link not work would be better than the current situation.

    I can’t code. I am only able to copy paste and to some degree alter code that i am given. I do have a working child theme if that helps.

    Thank you very much!!!
    Tim

    It could be a theme or plugin issue

    Plugins

    Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Themes

    If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

    Then come back

    Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately it did not work.
    I deactivated every single plugin and tested it both on the twenty seventeen and twenty fifteen themes
    No change.
    Image links added as text (https://imgur.com/CxesmHF) show, as long as they are in a new line.

    The result of using the dedicated button, wont.

    *EDIT*

    I just found out that the same is the case in this forum! Just try it.

    halo, anyone?
    the fact that it is also concerning this forum made me think there would be slightly more feedback.
    cheers

    does it change if you deactivate the bbp style pack plugin ?

    @timmoser

    as stated above, i deactivated every single plugin beside bb press without any change. furthermore, the same is the case in this forum. just test it. apparently something is flawed in the bbpress plugin itself.
    cheers

    bump, either there is something really wrong with my questions or this forum is rather dead.

    @timmoser I don’t know what you do for a living, but I presume I can just ask you for free help, and then complain when I don’t get it.

    This forum is supported by volunteers (mainly myself) who support a free product in their free time.

    I don’t have that much free time at the moment, so I may not get back to this question, or I may when I get a moment – sorry that’s kinda how free stuff works.

    ok, I’ve taken a further look.

    so I create a new topic, put in a title, then in the content I click the img button and get a prompt for URL which I enter, and then a prompt comes up for description which I enter, and then I press ok.

    The content then shows

    <img src="http://xxx.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/aunt.bmp" alt="this is the image" />

    I click submit and the image appears in the topic

    can you describe what is different for you ?

    my apologies. in no way did i mean to criticize you or this forum. i know that this is is free and i did not mean to complain at all. i was mainly surprised that given the incredible amount of pages using bbpress i expected this forum to be somewhat busier. in the meantime i figured out that it might be due to many relevant discussions actually being held on reddit.
    furthermore, while the issue is somewhat inconvenient for my page i was mainly surprised that i am having the same issue in this forum and i just wanted to bring it to you attention.

    test_does it show?

    yes or no?

    There should be an image above this line.

    ok, so i just tested it with some image from google (reuse with modification) as you can see above and it worked flawlessly. this surprised me so i did it the same way i did it last time. i uploaded an image of mine to imgur and tried it with that one. and it does not show. so apparently it is imgur specific.

    lets see if directly posting the link works:

    View post on imgur.com

    i men’t to edit my post and add the imgur pic but somehow i ended up posting my post twice. please feel free to delete one.

    Cheers

    ok, this again worked. so maybe it is imgur trying to avoid having their branding removed. anyway i guess if it is pic/hosting specific it might not be really pressing to address this. thanks
