I would like for my users to have the option of creating topics for the forum through the toolbar option ‘+ New‘ that the admin or moderators have. Many users will not understand the minimalist editor (the same that this forum has) and may discourage user threads and possibly replies. One of the plugins I installed was User Role Editor as you cannot change permissions by default. Is there something that I am missing within that plugin or what are the available options? Even if users could not use the editor I use TinyMCE Advanced I would be happy; though I would prefer if they had access to that editor.

as to your + New button, i dont know how to help with that , if you already created it maybe add a conditional to the function to only show it to Admins/Mods , but im not sure.
