Help for roles

I cannot the users (role is editor) give permission to upload media. I gave the plugin ‘user role editor’ a try, but also doesn’t work. I want that the editors (my users) can upload a picture, but it seems impossible. Another issue is that all the users can use the HTML tab, I cannot hide that tab. Why is this difference between the WP and BBPress roles? I’m very familiar and happy with WP (more than 50 installs) but bbpress is till now a very user unfriendly program for me. But maybe someone can change my mind. Please help, i am also satisfied that someone give me as answer that its not possible, in that case i need to search for other forumsoftware.

use the gd bbpress attachments plugin to allow users to upload images.

the users use html when they are using the visual editor too if you activated that it just outputs the html tags in an iframe in real time.

there being two tabs is not really a big deal, but create me a subscriber account and i can see if i can hide it with some CSS.

i need a subscriber account because i cant see the topic/reply form unless i login to your site.

ok role see if this article helps

Thanks Robkk, but the plugin that you suggested makes it possible to attach a picture. I want the picture inline within the text. Not only a picture but also a movie (mp4) or a slideshow.

I’m afraid that I ask too much from this forumsoftware.

allowing users to upload .mp4 video clips and slideshows would need some custom development.

    http://jobs.wordpress.net

your users can post youtube/vimeo videos and such in forum posts

    and also post slideshare links

    and images from flickr/instagram/imgur

all the users have have to do is post a link to their source and it will automatically embed using oembed.

and also if you have embed media automatically in settings>forums

Hello robkk, thats not a solution, I want that users can upload media with the media button in tinymece. My users are not experienced users and they use for the first time a blog.

then maybe BuddyPress is more for your needs its not forum software but more of a social hub plugin. it does work with bbPress flawlessly though.

there are tons of plugins for BuddyPress that allow users to upload media such as pictures, videos, music, and maybe slideshows too.

the uploading of other types of media can only be achieved in bbPress usally if you have
the url of the media, well except images from that gd bbpress attachments plugin, but in BuddyPress you could upload it right in the site.

i would go to BuddyPress support if that might be where you will sway to .
