Hi guys,

I am fairly new to the bbpress world. The issue I am having is that a user subscribed to a forum receives an email notification when a new topic is posted, but NOT when somebody replies to a topic.

I setup a brand new site with only bbPress and buddypress and replicated the issue there. My versions are:

Wordpress: 5.0 (also an issue on v. 4.9.8 in the live site)
Buddypress: 4.1.0
bbPress: 2.5.14
Theme: Twenty Nineteen v. 1.0 (bundled)

I am unable to find any settings other than “Allow users to subscribe to forums and topics” in the Forum Settings which is ticked.

Any help would be appreciated.

One quick follow-up:

I just realized there is an checkbox option for a user to subscribe to replies to an individual topic. I tested this and also in this case no reply email notification was received, so just to summarize the issues:

1) user1 subscribed to a forum – user2 posts a new topic:
new topic notification is sent out to user1 (good)

2) user1 subscribed to a forum and user2 replies to a topic in that forum:
reply notification not sent out to user1 (maybe good if 3 worked)

3) user1 subscribed to a topic (checkbox) and reply posted by user2:
reply notification email not sent out to user1 (not good)

I have the same issue. It doesn’t send buddy Press notifications either.

Sorry for the double post. But I found this thread. It might be a temp solution.
