Close forum or sub-forum to new topics but not to new replies…

    I’ve looked around and it seems others have looked for this same capability, but I have found no solutions.

    I want to be able to have a forum or sub-forum closed to new topics but not closed to new replies. As it is, when a forum is closed it also closes all replies to topics in that forum as well.

    I want to have a forum where a moderator or keymaster can set topics for discussion and then let the discussions unfold from there, through the topic’s replies, but so that participants can’t set new topic discussions in that particular forum.

    Kind regards…

    I too would like this feature. I have a curated forum with specific topics I want to allow. Participants should only be allowed to reply to existing topics. Is this not possible with bbPress?

    I created this trac ticket awhile ago because of this topic, and also I found a plugin that kind of does similar functionality.

    The plugin I mentioned is quite broken and has fixes mentioned in the plugins support forum by users.

    If a developer or anyone else wants to fork/fix the plugin I mentioned in this trac ticket they can go ahead. Even better if you help add this to core.

    Hi Lakrush ,

    @robkk

    I have written to the author by email and on the support forum to see if I can take over the php or help with the project. I’m giving him some days to respond.

    I have already adapted the php plugin with the input from the support forum there, now I need to test it still, but as said I’m waiting for the author to be sure he is no longer maintaining it himself.

    I say just fork it and make your own version if you want.

    I second Robert’s perspective… I’ve been looking for a way to do this for a while… If I knew php code well enough I’d offer to help out, but alas, I don’t…

    Dear all,

    After 18 days of waiting and 2 evenings of coding, I am happy to announce that you can now close forums in v1.0.3 of bbP Toolkit (https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-toolkit/)
