bbpress forums missing/not-accessible from admin view

  • megarlen

    Wordpress version: 5.6
    bbpress version: 2.6.6
    theme: Twenty Twelve

since a month my “forum” tab is missing from the admin left column. I can see “Topics” and “Replies” but I can not see “Forums” tab. see the screenshot:

also when as an admin and bbpress moderator, I click this link: “name-of-my-website/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=forum” I get the error message:
“You need a higher level of permission.

Sorry, you are not allowed to edit posts in this post type.”

On the other hand, in my website I can still see the list of forums, I can comment and write replies for them. So the data is there and accessible in view mode!

    What I tried so far:
deactivate all plugins to see if it works –> did not help
deactivate and delete all the other plugins –> did not help

so I assume the database is corrupted?! but if I do not have access to “forum repare” feature, how can I fix this problem?

I appreciate any hint and advise!

I found a solution for this:

I figure out there is only ONE admin user who has keymaster role. I loggedin as that user and I assigned “keymaster” role to the other admins.

so the conclusion is: “moderators” role is not enough to see and modify the “forums”. regardless if that user is WP admin or not!

I hope this would be of a help for someone with similar question.

this small plugin gives forum access to moderators, just install and activate
