I am a new user, trying to set up a forum for the first time. Any suggestion about the following, please? Under “Topic Title” I entered a sample title, topic tags, topic type, etc. and hit Submit. Then I am told:

This forum is empty.
O bother! No topics were found here.
Error: Your topic cannot be empty.

Re-entering and re-submitting the Topic Title are useless. There is nothing to show you on my site because I am still building it.

did you submit some content?

was this in the backend (dashboard) or front end

Thank you. It looks like adding content was the solution. We can close the chapter on this point or delete the thread if there is some way to do so.
