404 user profile

    @myrax

    I have my forum set to ‘private’.
    When I navigate (as admin) to the forum (front end) and click on a user name, I get the 404-page in stead of user profile.
    A week ago I had it working > I changed the role of the user. I thought I had it solved.
    But today that isn’t working anymore. Can’t think of anything hat got changed in the meanwhile.
    When I thought I had solved the issue I changed the role from ‘subscriber’ to ‘contributor’. I did NOT change the forum-role.
    Forum-role was and is set to ‘participant’.

    Does anybody know what is involved here and what I can do to fix this?

    Thanks for your reply. I did already try that. 🙂
    No difference.
    You have a next step for me…?

    hmm, apart from the standard elimination tests below, I can’t think of anything obvious

    Plugins

    Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Themes

    If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

    After a long search (I thought I tested all plugins… 🙁 ) I discovered it was indeed a plugin that got in the way. Specifically: “404page – your smart custom 404 error page”.

    Problem solved!
