In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2
honestscott, yes, old forum is not affected by migration tool.
In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2Migration tool just makes copy from bbpress tables to wptables
In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2John James Jacoby said: You’ll want to update to bbPress 1.1 first; the schematic changed from 1.0 to 1.1.
What can be potential issues when migrating straight from 1.0.2 to 2.x? When I tried test run of migration 1.0.2 to 2.x, I did not noticed any issues, so curious, should I really go for an upgrade to 1.2 first.
In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2Trying to move my forum from 1.0.2 to 2.2. So far managed to move users/forums/topics.
I`m stuck with attachment migration. On 1.0.2 I`m using bbPress Attachments written by _ck_, where files are located in folder, but on 2.2. version they should be in WP media library. Any good ideas how to migrate ~1100 files (jpg/png/pdf) so that they still keep linked to old posts?
In reply to: Ask for a pluginZaerl, when do you plan to release this plugin?
I wanted to test it, drop you mail 2 weeks ago, but so far no response. Maybe you can drop me files to edgars.melnis@gmail.com ?In reply to: Ask for a pluginVisitor check topic A, which belongs to forum F, at 10:00
New reply in post A at time 10:05
Visitor check forum at 10:06, the post A and forum F are unread
Visitor check post A, the post is now read
@Zaerl how about functionality, when user enters topic @10:06 and it is automaticaly forwarded/droped to post made @10:05 (where user stoped reading last time he visited that topic)? In reply to: Ask for a pluginzaerl any progress on this? I would be happy to test it as soon something gets released. 😉
In reply to: Ask for a pluginThere is one “must have” plugin missing on 2.x, what worked well on 1.x -> unread post plugin. Its already discussed under this topic https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/adding-view-unread-posts-plugin/
In 3 words describing – when users logs in it sees unread topics in different color (new topics and topics with new replies counting from last user visit). When he enters topic its automaticaly redirected to last unread post inside topic.
Old 1.x source code you can see here -> http://paste.php.lv/720a5c85e7a31f117a104d2a14ce368f?lang=php its just one file.In reply to: I will pay for installationOn bbPress 1.x there was similar theme called “WP mimic” (sample how it looks in production you can check from http://forums.kupla.lv). So if you are happy with bbPress 1.x version, you can use that.
I`m wondering has somebody ported it or something similar to 2.x version?
In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginaaclayton, speaking about “I wonder how some of the dedicated forum platforms handle this sort of feature.”
I
m running bbpress 1.0.2 forum with 400+ topics and 16000+ posts for 2+ years. I
m using “Unread Posts” plugin written by ck and should say that its perfect. Have not faced any errors or performance problems with it. Maybe you should look at source of that? Not sure if that plugin can be still found on net, but in case its not I can share the code (actualy there is just one php file). In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginjeeni, latest plugin code can be found on https://github.com/pippinsplugins/bbp-mark-as-read
In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginOk, I keep fingers crossed that some day replay tracking will be implemented in bbpress core or as separate plugin, until that I keep sitting on standalone 1.x forum version. 🙂
In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" plugin“In regards to going to the last reply, this actually won’t be possible (not in the scope of this plugin), simply because this is tracking whether the topic has been viewed, not whether there is a new reply. For tracking new replies, simply use the existing Subscribe feature.”
To be honest, then its useless, at least in my case. I`m leading the home brew forum (http://forums.kupla.lv), where every user (at least those 50 active ones) is interested in every unread post, so it would be stupid to subscribe again and again to every single topic whats added new to forum. Although, in some hot topics, sometimes there are about 1500 posts, so imagine when you enter topic after couple of days being offline how you will remember which of 60 pages was the last what you have read. :-/
I can only kindly ask, to consider adding this as well. Without that I will keep sitting on bbpress 1.0.2, because that simple “Unread Posts” plugin written by ck has become a major, unreplaceable feature of forum.
In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginTravel to last unread reply is “must have” feature. I dont think some special arrow is needed, the old 1.x bbpress plugin worked so, that in latest topics page you see unread topics in different collor and when you entered that topic, it automaticaly bring you to last unread post in that topic. It was simple and perfect.

In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginDownloaded the latest version of code.
-“Mark all as read” works fine, tried for 439 topics at once, worked fast.
-“Unread forum topics” under profile seams to be working (initially I had case when new topics did not appeared as unread, but I was not able to repeat and catch exact case how I got it)One remark – when user registers new topic or reply and do not wait 10 seconds his own topic appear as unread. Would be good to mark those immediately as read.
In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginThis one works as expected -> “version with some ajax that will automatically mark topics as read after you have viewed them for at least 10 seconds”
I`m using “Response” theme. bbpress 2.1.2
With latest commit, started to apear something under users profile “Unread Forum Topics Viewing 30 topics – 1 through 30 (of 436 total)” Its already late, will try to play a bit tomorrow if have time.By the way, maybe you can suggest theme what to use to have proper components?
In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginYes, topics remember Mark as Read/Unread link usage. Will download latest version…
In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" plugin“You can also view a list of all unread topics by going to your bbPress profile, in the same way you would view favorites or subscribed topics.”
Under users Y profile I dont see unread posts as well
“Unread Forum Topics
You have read every posted topic.”In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginI made a look on it. I was able to activate plugin. I see Mark as Read/Unread link next to the Subscribe/Unsubscribe links on topics.
But I can not recognize unread topics, they look exactly the same like regular topics. What I did is:
-activated plugin
-used existing topic, where users X and Y are chatting
-logged in with user X and posted reply
-logged in with user Y on topics page, but dont see any difference, that one where user X replied minutes ago looks exactly same like others.
-tried to create new topic with user X and then login with user YMaybe I dont fully understand planed functionality? Or it depends from theme and something should be added to CSS file?
Previous plugin for old 1.x BBpress forum was working so that it marked unread topics (totaly new topics and old ones where new replies were submitted after users last visit) in different color.
In reply to: Adding "view unread posts" pluginI`m curious how this ends. Unread post plugin is thing, what stops me from migrating bbpress 1.x to 2.x.
In reply to: Mimic bbPress/wordpress themeDosch, could you please share theme name? I
m currently using WP Mimic, but it does not work with bbpress 2.x, so I
m still running on 1.x version.I did not sucseeded searching alternative.
