In reply to: bbPress 2.0 – Updates
Trying to integrate existing plugins may be more trouble than it’s worth. However a few examples of how to adapt existing ones to work with as little fuss as possible may be better. But having said that I dare say a lot of the filters/actions will still be there, which increases the chance of existing ones working.
In reply to: bbPress plugin September 15?15th again!
Thanks for the update, and at least that gives me chance to finish off other things before I start playing with it!
In reply to: bbPress plugin September 15?All sounds good, thanks for the update
In reply to: bbPress plugin September 15?No that’s wrong.
bbPress as a plugin for WordPress as a standalone plugin is being developed.
bbpress as a standalone still exists as this time.
bbpress does not rely on buddyPress.
buddyPress (as far as I am aware, but I could be wrong) uses an older version of bbPress.
As JJJ maintains buddyPress which uses bbPress it is only natural for him to ensure the 2 work together.
In reply to: bbPress plugin September 15?I have contacted JJJ and pointed him at this thread. My guess is though that he has been busy elsewhere. But hopefully he’ll be along shortly with an update…
In reply to: bbPress plugin September 15?bbPress 1.2 (the plugin) should be stable enough to start testing as soon as September 15 (give or take a few days and/or missing features) with a full release due around the same time as BuddyPress 1.3.

that is why people are asking.
In reply to: BBcode-lite users MUST upgrade to 1.0.5 ASAPdone, thanks
In reply to: Tags broken on bbpress.org?they get added, but you need to refresh the page to see them. Known issue, sadly.
Well bbPress as a plugin is progressing, and last official word was that there would be a testable version in a few weeks.
not everyone likes the approach used. Not everyone wants voting, and it isn’t always suitable.
In reply to: No feedback after adding tag to existing topic hereIt may have been deleted as I changed the text to nvm.

In reply to: No feedback after adding tag to existing topic hereI thought I saw that the other day, then assumed someone else had added the tag! Glad it wasn’t just me seeing this.
In reply to: Irony?if number of spam posts by user is greater than x, then auto bozo time.
In reply to: Irony?I adapted an older plugin for use on punBB/fluxBB. Those forums have a report function, I made it so that after x reports the post got automatically hidden until reviewed by a moderator.
I’ll probably write a similar plugin for the bbPress plugin when it is released, as I have found it particularly useful along with the other restrictions that it also included:
– ability to limit new posts to x characters
– ability to limit new posters to x links
and a a few other things. Admittedly it wouldn’t have helped with the recent spam, for that I blame akismet
In reply to: WordPress and Godaddy Economy Hosting Problem?this is the support forums for bbPress not WordPress, and not GoDaddy.
I’d suggest speaking to GoDaddy support first, then if you get not joy asking again on the WordPress.org forums.
In reply to: Where is the plugin..?It is still in the process of being developed, you can keep an eye on the progress here. Though I think when it is near to be being ready for a few people to test it it might be added to the plugin repository over on WordPress.org.
The last estimate was that it might be ready for some initial tests in a month – but don’t expect a full release for several months as yet.
In reply to: bbPress plugin September 15?Looking forward to it JJJ.
In reply to: Green WordPress admin color schemeNice
I doubt it is a plugin myself. I suffered from these a long time ago, but hadn’t made any changes to the site for a while at that time.
some of these may be worth a look:
It’s a hosting issue. You should be ok to delete them, but I’d recommend talking to your host first.
No the error is more likely to be in your CSS.
I tried adding
position: absolute;
width: 75%;to your mainContent. This seems to on the right track, at least in Firefox.
Your disabling of right click doesn’t work in Firefox. If it had then I wouldn’t have been able to help.
In reply to: bbPress Plugin is Bornapart from when plugins are taken on board and integrated into the core.
I for one would hope that the ability to skip akismet is built into akismet for bbPress at some point in the future – retrieved from akismet is quite common here, and on the WordPress forums – enough to warrant it being added to the core. I know that is a plugin – but it is a slightly different case.
I may not be able to help to much with the coding, but testing wise, and perhaps even accessibility wise I would be able to help.
Would now be a good time to start a new section on here for discussion related to this new version?
In reply to: bbPress Plugin is BornFirstly, thanks JJJ for actually confirming that bbPress as a standalone will be dropped after the plugin is released – that does make a difference to things being discussed.
Non WordPress uses can’t use VaultPress, or BuddyPress. As the plugin is being developed, if you have suggestions on how it might still be able to sit on top of BackPress, I’m open to building that into it also provided it doesn’t overly sacrifice performance in other areas.
I keep having a weird thought which I know it not practical, about a cut down version of WordPress – oh wait that was what BackPress was supposed to be wasn’t it? Then within it you could have an option to upgrade to get full WP functionality. It would literally only need the files that bbPress utilises.
Ok I have weird thoughts – I admit it – hangs head in shame.
In reply to: bbPress Plugin is BornDoesn’t it sound strange that you, JJJ, had to specify “bbPress (the plugin)” everytime not to get users confused? -_-” I’m not a native English speaker (I’m Italian), so I can tell you people are going to be confused by this!
I thought the same. JJJ you have to admit yourself that it’s going to get confusing to us, let alone new people!
Query: won’t having bbPress(the plugin) and bbPress(standalone) mean that the functionality gets out of sync? Is there some way that bbPress(the plugin) can be used for bbPress(standalone)?
