In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2
Due to the lack of support and replies only every sixth month here, I ended up deleting my entire forum with 300 users and ten thousands of posts.
It just was no clear path on how to do this and nobody was giving any proper answers. So I sacrificed everything I had built up and now am going to install a new version and start fresh.
Not with even half of the users coming back even.
In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2Limbobski, I have tried to import the old forums, but it did not work for me.
Did you have the old forum on a different database? Were the users able to continue using the new forum?
In reply to: Good lesson about spambotsIs nobody seing this or..=
In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2I´m having the exact same problem as Limbobski is questioning. And nobody here is bothering to answer him either.
This question needs a proper solution. There are many of us who have been with BBPress for YEARS now, and we have WordPress and forums on different databases. We need a step-by-step guide on how to keep the content and merge the two together. To successfully update to the newest version of BBpress.
In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2You get white screen after upgrading to 1.2? That sounds alarming to me. I cannot risk that. I have users and alot of content. The whole reason I need to upgrade, is to keep that content.
In reply to: Upgrade bbPress 1.0.2 to 2.1.2I have this same problem. I am now downloading version 1.2, to upgrade from 1.02.
But I have my forum on a different database. And would like to import it to the WordPress database. I´ve tried using the converter without success. So would appreciate any help on this problem.
In reply to: How to move from version 1.02 to the new 2.1?bump
In reply to: How to move from version 1.02 to the new 2.1?I entered bb_ in the table prefix. And I think all the input fields were correct. But it didnt find any data.
It said, no users to convert, no tags to convert etc etc.
It did not convert anything. It seems like it just hit a wall. Whats wrong?
In reply to: How to move from version 1.02 to the new 2.1?Wait wait wait… I just discovered the Converter!!
That seems to be exactly what I have been asking for! What do I put in the “table prefix”?
In reply to: How to move from version 1.02 to the new 2.1?But the forum is on a different database than my wordpress. So I can´t upgrade 1.02 to 2.1.
I´ve already installed BBpress 2.1 on the other database, on my website. But its completely empty. I need to import the data and users from the other forum.
How?
In reply to: Is version 2.0 final now?I have no users on the second installation at all.
Other than the single wordpress admin, I myself am.
In reply to: Is version 2.0 final now?In phpMYadmin I can browse both databases which are both the child of localhost.
Can I mark all BBpress stuff, and export it to a file, and import that into the WordPress database?
Will that work?
And if it works, will the users and posts be visible in my other BBPress installation on the wordpress database then? Or will they still need to be converted? Cause I see all the users and different values have “BB_” infront of them, while the WordPress users and values have “WP_” infront of them.
Is that what needs to be changed? The three characters in the beginning of everything?
In reply to: Is version 2.0 final now? What do you mean? Move what tables over?
Can I install BBConverter, import my BBpress 1.02 installation to backup file, and export it to a BBPRess 2.0 installation on a different database? That should work right?
IS there no option in BBPRess 2.0 to select database? If not, there really should be.
That would be very easy, to just install BBPress 2.0 through WordPress as is, and go into the admin panel and select : Database – Select Database – Option 2 – Would you like to import existing users and discussions into BBPress? – Yes/No
In reply to: Is version 2.0 final now?But is there not an import option in BBPress 2.0?
I have my forum installed on a different database than WordPress. Will I be able to move the data from one database to a different one?

In reply to: bbPress 2.0 – FAQSo if you use another theme for your blog, you have to edit two themes?
The normal WordPress theme – AND the BBpress plugin theme?

In reply to: bbPress 2.0 – FAQWowow, major surprise here. Suddenly I feel like you´re talking about version two as something everyone is familiar with. And I struggle a bit to find out where I´m supposed to start.
First of all I think I will wait for the completed version, and skip the betas.
Heres my question:
How do you install it?
-Does it appear as a “page” in WordPress?
-Does it use the same database as WordPress?
-Can it use my old separate forum database, and automatically detect the users there?
-If it does, will this be the way to upgrade from “old” bbpress to the new?

In reply to: bbPress 1.0.3 releasedI´ve been using 1.02 for something like two years now. So the security hole is obvioysly not that important.
I´ll wait for 1.1.

In reply to: The Most Customized Version Of BbPress Ever. That looks really modern. But slightly Windows-like.
I think the structure can be improved, because I don´t easily understand what is questions and not. But keep the effects and stuff.
After a second look, I would remove the “Latest Discussed Questions” because it just splits up the content you know. It clutters what is organized.
The font and placement for Question Categories should be more incorporated into the tables, because it´s a bit hard to spot. Make it really pop.
And I don´t understand “Main Theme”… what is that about? Perhaps that should say categories, or “Type of question?”.
