In reply to: Menu LinksNo. Linux hosting from Go Daddy. (Sorry for the delay, my exchange server crashed and, hey… it’s a long weekend!!!)
In reply to: Menu LinksPermissions are the same for both…
In reply to: Menu LinksYes – Correct. I have tried it several ways. As per your example, I renamed the folders to “mikes-kakumei” and received the same error.
What is the reason the file cannot be edited in “bb-templates” I made a crude attempt at it today at http://www.volleyballnh.com/forums/bbpress/
In reply to: Menu Links@ Ipstenu
Thanks. I want to be sure I understand (and I may not have been clear in my post)… I copied all folders and files in my
bb-templates
folder and moved them to a new folder calledmy-templates
.Are you saying I should rename the folders when I move them to
my-templates
? (kakumei and kakumei-blue are the two folders I am moving).Thanks again for your help.
In reply to: Menu LinksHi all,
When I move my template files into
bbpress/my-templates
I get the following error when trying access my forum:Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening ” for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php’) in /home/content/databasename/html/forums/bbpress/bb-includes/functions.bb-template.php on line 45
Is it normal for the template files to disappear in the
bb-templates
directory after you populate themy-templates
directory with templates/themes?Thanks
In reply to: cookie integration problem wp2.8 – bb 1.0 rc-2Integration works! I finally figured out that every time I accessed the
options.php
file on the WP side, it was kicking me out of bbpress admin. So every time I entered theAuth_Salt
and theLogged_in_salt
, they were not being retained. What a dummy! So simple… Hope this helps others noobs while the veteran techies are laughing at me!In reply to: cookie integration problem wp2.8 – bb 1.0 rc-2So, you did solve the problem? I tried generating new keys in both config files with no look unfortunately. Is there something in the step by step process I am missing? Thanks in advance.
wp-config.php file:
define( ‘AUTH_KEY’, ‘mathes BB-config key’);
define( ‘SECURE_AUTH_KEY’, ‘mathes BB-config key’);
define( ‘LOGGED_IN_KEY’, ‘mathes BB-config key’);
define( ‘NONCE_KEY’, ‘mathes BB-config key’);
In reply to: cookie integration problem wp2.8 – bb 1.0 rc-2Done. New Keys. New Code. Same Problem. [Sigh….]
In reply to: Menu LinksThanks Very much, I understand. I had no doubt your answers were correct. By editing his header he caused some loss of functionality. When reading his entire quote which begins, quite importantly with, “Thanks. I did that. Then found out… ” You see that he tied both things together: cause and affect (or is that effect). In any case, the question of whether there are plugins for editing themes etc., and therefore avoiding destruction of important code has been answered.

I removed passwords and host names for obvious reason…
In reply to: Menu LinksAny chance you could share the location of those PHP Tutorials? I would love to check them out. I was remembering a friend of mine used PHPBB years ago. I had forgotten all about it until he recently posted to a discussion list. Guess he was a real pioneer!
http://www.bavp.org/forumz/ If you want to check it out (though I can’t imagine why…)
Thanks
In reply to: Menu LinksYou wrote “You could just edit your theme. Change the header file to have whatever menu links you want.”
Then you wrote “A lot of bbPress’s functions come in the form of Plugins, so it’s easier for people to pick and chose what they want in their forum. “
At which point I wondered “So, is there a plugin for this? “
That would be the “this” I was referring to. Hope this helps and thanks for any info in advance.
In reply to: cookie integration problem wp2.8 – bb 1.0 rc-2Afraid so… Deleted cookies (and everything else), restarted, tried different browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox).
Same old Same Old… I assume the integration is meant to work so that a user could conceivably login to the website, and then move to the bbforum without having to log back in. It’s one thing to be unable to access admin privileges without logging in but if users have to log in multiple times, they will be gone in a hurry I think!
I will watch carefully for updates as I know Sam was talking about tweaking the integration plugin. Thanks for your help and patience.
In reply to: cookie integration problem wp2.8 – bb 1.0 rc-2Thanks. I have generated new cookie keys and configured both config files as outlined in your post. Unfortunately, logging into one dashboard, logs me out of the other as before. Glad it’s working for you though. I removed the security key from both files with no apparent change in functionality or access.
I will keep investigating.
In reply to: cookie integration problem wp2.8 – bb 1.0 rc-2Thanks! I have but I think I have so many configurations going I have lost track. Here are the defines (including your fix, thank you again) in my bb-config file:
define(‘BB_SECRET_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config secret key;
define( ‘BB_AUTH_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config key”;
define( ‘BB_SECURE_AUTH_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config key”;
define( ‘BB_LOGGED_IN_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config key”;
define( ‘BB_NONCE_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config key”;
define(‘COOKIE_DOMAIN’, ‘.www.volleyballnh.com’);
define(‘COOKIEPATH’, ‘/’);
$bb_table_prefix = ‘bb_’;
$bb->cookiedomain = ‘www.volleyballnh.com’;
Here is my WP-config info:
define(‘SECRET_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config secret key;
define( ‘AUTH_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config key”;
define( ‘SECURE_AUTH_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config key”;
define( ‘LOGGED_IN_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config key”;
define( ‘NONCE_KEY’, ‘”mathes WP-config key”;
$table_prefix = ‘wp_’;
define(‘COOKIE_DOMAIN’, ‘www.volleyballnh.com’);
define(‘COOKIEPATH’, ‘/’);
What am I missing (or do I need to delete)? Thanks in advance for your help.
Mike
In reply to: cookie integration problem wp2.8 – bb 1.0 rc-2Just upgraded to 1.0 RC3:
Within the process it does give the “cookiedomain” instructions – THANKS!. Unfortunately my login problems continue. I can now login to both but only into one dashboard at a time. Also, I have to delete cookies everytime I log out of one and try to get into the other…
Hmmm
In reply to: Menu LinksSo, is there a plugin for this?
In reply to: cookie integration problem wp2.8 – bb 1.0 rc-2Hi, I have the same or similar problem. I removed the two defines mentioned above and I can login to BBpress and WP but not simultaneously. Users are showing up in both places when they register through bbp.
Also, I installed Community User and I was wondering if there was a way to have the profiles on BBp match those produced by Community User? The CU profiles display great within WP.
Thanks for any help and I will be looking for the integration fix. Congratulations on your great work.
