I’ve been going crazy with this and what I’ve concluded is this:
- I’ve made a new fresh installation of WP, Buddypress and bbPress on a subdomain, without any plugins more, tweaks or whatever.
- My setup was sitewide forums.
IT JUST DON’T UPDATE ANYTHING FROM FORUMS.
Then I’ve switched to Group forums and it works perfectly.
In the process I found another bug for sitewide forums: At user profile page –> forums option –> topics replied to, it gets blank.
I’ve confirmed this bug at buddypress testdrive site, it has the same problem. So I believe that for now sitewide forums has no buddypress activity integration.
Should I open a ticket ?
In reply to: Not sure what to useEdit or create forums and topics from dashboard painel. Once in the editor at your right you’ll see a box forum or topic attributes.
I guess this is only for the latest version of bbpress.
In reply to: Not sure what to usePlay with three things:
1- when creating a new forum or editing an existing one at your right you have forum attributes. At visibility you have three options (Public, Private or Hidden).
2- The same described above for topics.
3- Go to users, select one to edit and give him Forum Moderator Role, its a dropdown menu in the midlle of the page. Play a litle with that and you’ll understand how it works to find out if it suits your needs. No other login is necessary but just give to certain people the right privileges.- This reply was modified 12 years, 3 months ago by miguelcortereal.

In reply to: Not sure what to useA subdomain is a good idea to ease a lot of extra configurations to keep your forum private from the other site members.
When opening the forums use attributes (private, hidden) and give your members the matching privileges so that a stranger to the site that happens to visit it don’t see what’s going on.
On your WordPress dashboard (subdomain install) at Options –> Privacy block search engines other wise you will have your forums at google listings and other search engines listings.
If you just want those people debating around subjects bbpress is all you need.
If want them to debating on several subjects, and iteracting between them one to one or one to many, maybe buddypress should be better choice and leave bbpress.Concerning to have your site locked to outsiders there are plugins for that.
@Andre
Tried to deactivate all plugins, then tried to switch for buddypress default theme and the result is the same. No forums updates at activity stream.By the way, are you using group forums or site wideforums, or eventually both enabled but using only one of them?
Here the same, Buddypress activity stream doesn’t pull forum activity.
I’ve already posted this issue at Buddypress Forums and @Paul Gibbs advised to post here too once that bbpress handles all integration with Buddypress.
I’m using:
WP 3.4.1
Buddypress 1.6.1
bbpress 2.1.2
