That suggestion worked perfectly! Thanks so much!!

For anyone interested, you can edit any part of the wordpress email messages (/buddypress/bbpress) because they are all tied together) by going here to download this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/welcome-email-editor/

There are a couple more ways to customize the emails and the tutorial is here: http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-send-a-custom-welcome-email-to-new-users-in-wordpress/

Thanks for your help Robin! πŸ™‚

I haven’t found any re-direct options in bbpress or buddypress, so my guess is that they should not have anything blocking it… but plugins sometimes conflict for other reasons. I would suggest using bbp style pack. It has it’s own login redirect plus a whole lot of other re-design features that I use a lot of. I am having a bit of trouble with the redirect but am working to get it resolved now. I have changed a couple of things that may be causing a conflict, but the redirect feature it offers is my preference. I’d suggest trying out the style pack plugin instead of using those other two since it is made for bbpress so it’s sure to be much more compatible.

I’ll see if I can make it work with the link you’ve provided first and I’ll update this post if it does. If not then I’ll send you a screen shot of what I am referring to. Thanks so much Robin!

I’m still wondering about this… not sure if anyone else has the same problem, but these brackets appear in the subject line of all emails sent out by bbpress and there are no settings that I can find to change the emails and I haven’t been able to find a plugin to do it either (I use bpstyle pack)

    Thanks!

By the way… what I did end up doing which has been a real good work-around, is use the bbp style pack single forum short code to show my forums as pages. This has been great, because it allows for much more modification! So I just added my featured image to each forum’s page.

Thank you so much for your help @stagger-lee! This code did work, however, it seems to only be for forum lists, which is an option already included in the bbp style pack plugin. I am trying to get the featured image to show up on the forum’s page itself (like what they do in buddypress groups) I don’t have forum lists accessible on my site so it’s not relevant to what I am doing. Thanks again for taking the time to post this tho!

Stagger Lee, where did you add this code? Does it only bring up the image in forum or topic lists or does it appear on the forum page?

I would like my featured image to work as well. My users are not allowed to add their own topics, so this would be a feature for me to use alone. I create all of my forum topics in the back-end. There is a Set Featured Image option on forum topic pages, but it doesn’t show up anywhere.

    Thank you for your time!

It must have been wordpress-generated and I looked into it more and was able to find a way to change it (with some online help!) Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me. I appreciate your time!!

Okay. The 404 page redirect does make sense then I didn’t think about it that way. Do you know where I can modify the redirect page so that it only shows the 404 page not found message and not a list of my site’s pages? Thanks again.

Oh sorry! I must have been sending this message at the same time as your response. I understand. That you for taking the time to respond. I had submitted a couple questions a long time ago that hadn’t been answered and was worried this forum wasn’t monitored. Anyway will read your response now thank you!!

Ok. I guess there are folks responding… All I am wondering is if there is supposed to be a redirect when someone isn’t logged in. I want to prevent non logged-in users from viewing this 404 page because it has a list of all the pages within my website, and I need to keep that accessible only to logged-in users.

Does anyone reply to these forums?

Disregard. The bbpress search widget is searching the forums so I disabled the normal search bar. This topic can be closed. Thank you!!

Thank you. I was unaware that this notice didn’t show up for other users, so that certainly answers my question. I already did install your plugin and it has helped SO much! So thank you!!! That actually reminds me that I meant to leave you a donation. You really did a great job with the style pack plugin and I’m sure that I’m not the only one who is very grateful of all your hard work. I’ve used a ton of it’s features! I have a question regarding one thing that I have just recently been unable to get to work right on it though… do you have a forum specific to your plugin? If so I can post this there for other users to see: The login page is redirecting to a a login page without the β€œyou are already logged in” text. This is happening when I am already logged in and it comes up with a one-line width bubble that looks like it should contain that text. I tried it both with my own text added and without.

    Thanks again for your time!

    Take care,
    Kari
